All the components of the knee work together. The femur is the upper part of the knee joint, tibia is the lower part of the knee joint, the patella protects the knee joint. Ligaments such as the MCL, ACL, PCL, and LCL all provide stability for the knee.

All the components of the ankle work together. The tibia is the inner part of the ankle joint, the fibula is the outer part of the ankle joint, the talus is the heel bone allowing ankle movement. Medial and lateral ligaments allow specific movements of the ankle. And the Achilles tendon connects the calf muscle allowing the pointing of the toes.

I can watch someone walk to see if their ankle turns in or out when they walk. I can perform tests to see if everything in the ankle is normal. For example, to make sure the Achilles tendon is normal, I can squeeze the calf to get a reaction from the Achilles.

I can watch someone walk to determine if their knees are strong or weak based on if the knees turn in or out with motion. I also can place stickers on major parts of the knee to make it easier to identify problems when in motion. Along with that, I can perform tests on the knee to make sure it has all of its functions and is working properly.
