Do you think scaffolding is needed all the time? Or children only be guided at certain time? Why?
All learners need time to process new ideas and information. They also need time to verbally make sense of and articulate their learning with the community of learners who are engaged in the same experience and journey. As we all know, structured discussions really work best with children regardless of their level of maturation. This is a wonderful way to check for understanding while students read a chunk of difficult text or learn a new concept or content. Here’s how this strategy works: Share a new idea from discussion or the reading, then pause (providing think time), and then ask a strategic question, pausing again.

For my point of view, children need the scaffolding for the first few times if they cannot do it because as a child, they have limited knowledge. So they need to learn first before they can do that by themselves. However, the way of assistant may be varies such as help on support, oral or physical. Scaffolding some how might not be all the time. We have to see how is the children first and decide what assist that we can give. Every children develop differently.

In my opinion, children need to be guided at certain times. I will give a task to young children and observe how the young children complete the task using their skills or creativity. After that, all young children completed their tasks, I will show them the correct way or my way to complete the tasks. For example, in art lessons, the task is to draw a house. Based on young children's imagination and creativity, they can draw their versions of their houses, instead of following my version of a traditional house.

Scaffolding described a teaching strategy where a child is provided with a specific form of assistance while they learn and develop new skill. Scaffolding is needed to create a supportive education environment. This will create opportunity for the students to ask questions and provide feedbacks. This also encourage children to involved more in their learning environment and teachers wont be dominant on the learning environment. They can be guided until they are confident to do it themselves.

Mostly children or student need guidance through scaffolding especially children front infancy. At home parents as a models and while school teacher as a models. For my opinion, from infant to two years old mostly fully use the scaffolding all the time. From two years until seven years still need scaffolding with guidance from parents and teachers because at this stage child lot of questions and their need explanation emediatly. Same with student from eight until 12 years old. For 13 years all also need scaffolding but the need guidance from parents and teachers. This age until children became a teenagermthey can be independence as parents and teachers we can give them some space to think what is the best for them and give their time also.
