I am pretty confident with the group that me, two of my friends, and another two people have just formed after lecture. They seem competent to deliver quality work so I believe things can be done with quality and efficiency and it might lift of some burden of having to redo people's work if they are of low quality. Most groupmates have also planned to carry out the online project instead of the research report. Honestly I'm more keen on carrying out the research rather than the online project as I'm more confident with my research skills and I'm not so comfortable with collaborating and talking to people outside just to carry out our project but I don't mind with the overall decision. It would be a good experience to learn more and do things out of my comfort zone. Everyone has also decided to spend some time to think of some ideas for our online project, and we will discuss them in the upcoming meeting.

We have presented our ideas for our online project today on Zoom. But to me, certain ideas were not as good because it was not thought through up until the impact it can give and how we can determine and obtain our expected outcomes. In the end, the ideas didn't seem fully executable except for one other idea but that idea still required a lot of time of thinking to see how to execute it and how effective it will be for the community. We then just decided to try and develop that idea or come up with new ones. I find generating effective and original ideas to be tiring but I know that the faster we settle this, the faster we do not need to worry much about it anymore. A research idea then popped up in my head which was related to how COVID-19 has affected the environment and I felt very confident and assuring about it. From my view, this would be a better idea since sources are already available to be researched about. We would also be able to raise awareness and promote ways to help the environment after our research is completed. So, it has a clear expected outcome that we can plan to achieve. Even though I probably never had an experience in carrying out a research, I felt more confident about this idea as the structure of the research is already super clear compared to the other ideas. I felt very glad and happy that my groupmates were open to this idea even after they decided to go for an online project and they eventually decided to go along with this idea whilst keeping the other idea as a backup.

We had a meeting with Ms Sumathi today to talk about our two ideas. She has given us valuable feedback for our two ideas and tips to help us in planning our proposal and I truly appreciate it. It made things a lot more clearer for me and for my team. After the meeting with her has ended, we decided to choose which idea to work on. I was quite annoyed for a fact that only Yee Yieng and I were making most of the important decisions. There was no valuable help or feedback were given by the other three members. The other three were just trying to follow the flow of whatever that was happening. I believe that a team can only be fully efficient if everyone gives valuable inputs to the topic of discussion. So, I was slightly disappointed with those three. However, I did not express any of my feelings to the team to not cause any conflict and to move on with the decisions. Since this would just be a one time decision, Yee Yieng and I just finalized which idea we were going for and it was the idea about COVID-19 and the environment. When discussing about the things needed for the proposal, I did not realize that only Yee Yieng and I were the only ones planning about the things that are needed in the proposal until after we have finished discussing. At this point, I didn't mind anymore because everything was finished planning and clearly, my expectations for them from week 1 were not met. But it is okay. I am really thankful to have Yee Yieng on my team as she has been really helpful in planning and deciding things, which gave me hope that this project can be done with great quality and efficiency! We then ended our discussion after splitting the tasks and setting a deadline to complete it for everyone.

Although more work are starting to come in from the other modules, I am still able to maintain good balance in doing university work and doing other activities in my life.

Today is the day everyone reviewed each other's work. But once again, Yee Yieng and I were the ones doing most of the reviewing. Honestly, I didn't mind because I just feel that our standards and expectations of the quality of work are higher than the other three of them. Both of us then just gave them some feedback on certain things to change and I was glad they responded quickly and changed it as soon as possible but there were just some things that I was not fully satisfied with even after they altered it. So, me and Yee Yieng just decided to modify it for them to not waste any more time. Their parts looked better once we have altered it and I was happy with it as it showed better quality. At this point, I stopped expecting to receive work of high quality and standard from them anymore. I understand that my standards of work to be completed is high but I also understand that there are still people who are not capable of producing such great quality of work. Its not that I don't want to include them or help them increase their quality of work, but its just that telling them to change their work over and over again and to keep on telling them how to improve would be too time consuming and there isn't a lot of time to spare since all of us are also occupied with other assignments. I believe helping them to improve would take a substantial amount of time and effort from myself and them too as it cannot just be done in one day or even a few weeks. I believe it's the experiences, character, and values they uphold that determines their standard and effort in giving quality work. But throughout all the work so far, I am incredibly happy and thankful that Yee Yieng can resonate with me and help me produce such great quality of work. We then shared our proposal for checking with Ms Sumathi.

The proposal was submitted on 15/5/2020 but I was starting to get worried about the research report. The information provided on what was required in the research report did not seem clear enough. Plus, it was said that a minimum of 20 pages were required in our research and that also worried me on whether it is possible to reach the target. However, I knew that my worries could be resolved if I asked the right questions. Throughout the two weeks, our group did not make any plans or progress whatsoever, but I was slowly enquiring more and more details from Ms Sumathi about the research report to help my group execute it better and it made me feel more confident on producing a great research. Ms Sumathi has been really helpful and clear in answering my questions and I am really thankful for it.

I then started planning the structure of the research report with Yee Yieng by week 7 after receiving more and more information and clarification from Ms Sumathi about the requirements of the research report. I understand that we need to be inclusive and discuss things as a whole team, but honestly, I only trust Yee Yieng at this point and I feel that discussing the structure with the entire group would just slow down our planning process. Besides, I felt that they would just agree to whatever Yee Yieng or I have planned instead and not put in valuable feedback just like how they did from week 3. So, I didn't mind just planning the entire structure with Yee Yieng.

I briefed the entire structure to the team and we started to work on the research report after Yee Yieng and I have split the work among everyone. I have decided to ask everyone to focus and finish the research report once and for all within these two weeks so that we do not have to worry about it anymore and we can focus on other assignments. To be honest, I still did not have great expectations for the three of them to carry out their part so Yee Yieng and I gave them the easier parts to complete. Even though we gave them the easier parts, I still had a strong feeling that Yee Yieng and I would need to cover most of their work other. We've set a due date for everyone to complete their work by 14/6/2020. Throughout the week, most of the group members made progress except for David. I was really annoyed with him as the reason he did not make progress was because he was waiting for me to tell and show him how to write a section of his part that he was confused with without even asking at all! To me, it showed how little effort and initiative he has put into completing his part. I have teamed up with him in other module assignments too since last semester and I was starting to get more and more annoyed and disappointed with him for amount of effort he puts into things and the quality of work he produces. However, I just kept it in to not cause any conflict and to just let him continue completing his part.

Yee Yieng and I then reviewed everyone's work by 14/6/2020. To my surprise, Michelle's and Agnes' work were pretty decent and I was really impressed by it. There wasn't much to change for their parts other than to correct the grammar mistakes. However, David's part was honestly completely terrible, messy, irrelevant, and he even made a mistake about the structure of it when everything was explained super clearly! At this point, I was very annoyed and I have completely gave up on him as it is clear that he is so far off from reaching my standards and it seems like he does not even know what our main topic of this research is about. To me, telling him off or even asking him to change and alter every single thing would only waste more precious time. Even if he changes it, the quality of work would still be very poor. I know this because I have worked with him for many assignments and I always have to cover for him and alter his work. The only reason I still kept on accepting him inside my group was because he was just a friend that had meals together with me most of the time in the previous semester. This whole semester of working with him made me realize that there really isn't any reason for me to keep on taking in people like these into my group or to consider them as actual friends just because they have a few meals with me. This semester and project has made me realize that a friend to me isn't just someone that spends time only to have meals with you. People become friends because they have the same interests, qualities, and benefits each other in some way (be it from making each other happy, helping each other improve, etc). It may sound greedy or rude to only be friends with those who can bring benefits to you, but in reality, that is exactly how we make and maintain friendships and many people do not realize that! Realizing this made me appreciate and be more thankful of having Yee Yieng and a few other university people as my friends. Back to the topic, I just told him that I will help him edit his part and I completely edited everything to make things look a lot better.

I have spent a couple of days fixing David's part. Everything about the research report is now completed and I am super happy and proud of its quality! But then a friend from another group told me that we need to produce some kind of output to the community and I was quite bummed out by it cause I thought we were done with this assignment. However, I discussed about this with Yee Yieng and we decided to produce infographics out of our research. She even volunteered to design all the infographics and I was really happy about it. To help reduce her burden, I helped her highlight all the important information needed to be included in the infographics from the research. After a few days, she has finished designing all the infographics and all of it looked beautiful! I was really proud and thankful to have her on my team. I know that she has contributed a lot and she even sacrificed her study time to complete these infographics even when there was a test coming up. Ms Sumathi even complimented the infographics and I really felt happy about it! I also felt glad that all of the work needed to be done for the research report is finally completed.

And so, we have compiled and finally submitted our research report a lot earlier before its due date. I felt pretty satisfied and proud of my planning as the team leader throughout this whole project as there was no single time where we had to rush our work. Looking back at the journey, it has really taught me a number of important things, not only about people, but about the environment too. From completing this research, it made me care and feel more responsible for the wellbeing of the environment and I myself have learned of 10 new ways on how I can make the environment better just by small actions. It has also made me realize the beauty of nature and made me more aware of how much better our environment could be. Other than that, I have also learnt a lot about teamwork and people too. It made me realize the type of people whom I would want to work with. It made me realize that my true friends from university are actually the ones who has the same qualities and standards just like I do as the saying goes, 'birds of a feather flock together'. I feel very grateful for the few friends that I have in university right now as they always push me to be better than before and never drag me down in any way. Overall, even though it has been a bumpy ride to complete this project, I do not have any regrets for it as I know that difficulties helps me learn a whole lot more than a completely smooth ride and I am really thankful that this experience has made me improve myself.
