Beelzebub is sometimes used as another name or word for Satan. In Christianity, Beelzebub is known as "The Prince of Devils" and in Milton's Paradise Lost he is a fallen angel that is Satan's second in command. In common speech, a Beelzebub is any demon or evil spirit. He is known for being able to fly and is sometimes referred to as "Lord of Flying" or "Lord of the Flies". Beelzebub is relevant to our study of villains because he is the most powerful and number one villain in Paradise Lost since Satan is considered to be an epic hero in that epic.

The word "belial" is used in the Old Testament meaning "worthless" or "destruction". It is used once in the Bible as a name of Satan and the personification of all that is evil. In Milton's Paradise Lost, Belial is one of Satan's followers in a resistance against God. He would often try to help people, but only for a great offering or sacrifice in his honor. Belial is relevant to our study of villains because he is one of the main villains in Paradise Lost.

A child sacrifice in Christianity is considered profanity against God's holy name.

The word "Mammon" in the New Testament means "money", "wealth" or something promising wealth. The demon, Mammon, represents a deadly sin: gluttony. There is a common known saying based around Mammon; "You cannot serve God and money at the same time". Mammon is relevant to our study of villains because he is a villain that created enough reason for one of the seven deadly sins.
