His father’s name was Ali Rıza Bey and his mother was Zübeyde Hanım.

Atatürk’s four out of five siblings died while they were young. His only sibling was his sister Makbule Hanım.

He started his education at Hafız Mehmet Efendi Local School. He transferred to Şemsi Efendi School due to his father’s demand.

He lost his father in 1888. He started Military School where his mathematics teacher added his middle name “Kemal” to his name.

He started in the War of Independence in Turkey in 1919.

He died on 10th November 1938.

Four years after, his surname “Atatürk” was given to him by Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

Turkish heroine and resistance fighter (1854–1955)

Nene Hatun (b. 1857 - d. 22 May 1955, Erzurum), Turkish heroine who participated in the defense of Aziziye in Erzurum during the 93rd War and became the symbol of the popular resistance in Erzurum against the Russian occupation.

When the news that Russian soldiers had captured Aziziye Bastion on the night of November 8, 1877 was announced from the minarets during the morning call to prayer in Erzurum, she joined the people of the city who entered the fight with stones and sticks to help the Ottoman soldiers and became legendary as a result of her services.

Nene Hatun, who was selected as the Mother of the Year by the Turkish Women's Union in 1955, is the first woman to be given the title of "Mother of the Year" in Türkiye.[1]  She also bears the title of "Grandmother of the 3rd Army" given by the Turkish Armed Forces.[2]

• His father gave him a bağlama (saz) so he wouldn’t be left alone.

• In 1931, he gained recognition by participating in a folk poets’ festival in Sivas.

• Thanks to Ahmet Kutsi Tecer, his songs reached wider audiences, and he traveled village to village across Turkey singing his folk songs.

• Aşık Veysel passed away on March 21, 1973, in his native village of Sivrialan.
