The most important thing that I learned about myself as a writer in UWP 007 is my ability to write analytical essays. Prior to this class, I was not confident in my ability to string together multiple texts in order to support my own argument. This is important to me because it has allowed me to see my potential as an academic writer, in addition to learning various techniques that I can use in the future such as the BEAM method, the paramedic method, and the backwards outlining.

In this class I learned that I am a better writer than I believed myself to be. My skills with the writing process has improved through outlining processes, revision strategies, and peer reviewing. This is the MOST important to me because prior to this class I held onto the concept of a "genius writer" and thought that I was lacking as a writer if I couldn't have all my thoughts come out clearly and well developed in a first draft. I no longer have that misconception and believe I am a better writer because of it.

The most important thing that I have learned in UWP is to use writing as a tool that serves more purpose than just trying to get a good score on an assignment. Learning to use writing as a reflective tool throughout this class is an invaluable skill to continue on with the rest of college. Writing reflectively is something that I learned through the types of assignments we did in this course. I learned more about myself as a writer by realizing what my strengths and weaknesses were in my writing. By having some freedom to discuss our own opinions in our college writing for the first time I was able to explore my own ideas more than I have been able to before.

The most important thing I've realized about myself in writing is that I'm in the same boat as a lot of other people. I wouldn't consider myself a natural writer but that's okay because most other people aren't natural writers either. Writing is a skill that can be developed over time, so the most important thing is to keep writing and to improve over time. I think this is important for me to realize about myself as it boosts my confidence as a writer and encourages me to strive to become a better writer.

The most important thing I learned about myself as a writer in this class is that reading is more important than ever. In high school, you can get away with skimming through the reading material and not really understanding what I am reading. But I learned when reading through the first 5 sources that it wasn't sufficient and my understanding of the sources was not up to standards. This is the most important to me as this class broke a bad habit that I had throughout high school. This was crucial as I now understand that skimming and speed reading isn't good enough for comprehension. At least I learned my lesson now, instead of learning it too late in my upper writing courses.

One of the most important things I learned about myself as a writer while in class is that I am a creative writer. What I mean by that is I recognized a tendency to go into a writing assignment with details I already know and I use those details to transform my essay or assignment into something that I can progressively work on. I find this important because I see it as a personal ability. For example, I know some people have a hard time starting their drafts or work not knowing what to say whereas I tend to dive straight into the assignment with something that comes straight to my head and I build off it.

This is the most important to me because before this class I was always scared of starting over, and I would never attempt it even if it was the best thing to do. Now I can start my work over if I realize that I am going in a different direction that the prompt asks me to. This makes writing a lot less scary for me because it makes me more okay with making mistakes. This also makes me a more confident writer.

One of the most important things I have learned in this course is that it is okay to not have the perfect outcome the first time you write something. For some reason, I had the idea that writing needs to be perfect the first time and if it isn’t perfect, you’re a bad writer. But, I learned that is not the case at all, even famous writers we all look up to don’t even have it right the first time. It is significant to get your ideas out there and just draft everything out, and then revision will help you improve your writing until you feel completely satisfied. Your writing will never be perfect the first time, and just knowing that you must revise no matter what to improve your writing and having faith in the revision process is what makes a writer great.

This year I learned that there is no way to be a perfect writer. I learned that writing is a process where you are always improving and changing your writing style. I found this to be the most important discovery because it showed me that my writing style will vary depending on numerous factors such as the prompt given, the type of writing that needs to be produced ( whether it's argumentative, synthesis, personal, etc.), and of course the type of audience you are addressing. Learning this made me a better writer because rather than trying to produce a perfect piece of writing, I learned to just do my best and remember that y priority is my audience and making sure they understand the point I am trying to get across. This mentality allowed me to be more relaxed and flexible with my writing which lessened my anxiety when it came to big writing assignments.

The most important thing that I have learned about myself as a writer in this class was that I am capable of writing with confidence, effectively revising (in the right way) my writing and being able to express and show my thoughts to my peers and professor to be reviewed. This is the most important thing that I have learned to me because I have always worried, and still somewhat do, about expressing my writing in the most 'correct' way possible, however realizing that your writing will never be perfect and has to go through tons of revision to meet your own standards gives me a sense of acceptance with my drafts.

According to me, one of the most crucial and important thing I learned was the power of allowing and the use of other perspectives, besides myself. Back then, I would never take into consideration anyone's opinion regarding my writing. After this class, I realized that the more perspectives, the more arguments, ideas, and point of views that is ought to strengthen my paper. In the future, I will definitely look for others perspective in relation to my writing to strengthen it. Listening to other perspectives is also being part of a successful writer, which I'd like to be part of.

The most important thing that I learned about myself as a writer in this class is that I am surprisingly good at writing. I always used to doubt my writing, setting the bar way too high for almost all of my assignments. However, this class taught me to be more confident with my writing style and any writing decisions I may make. This is especially true when I read the Edwards and Paz article, discovering that these feelings towards writing are normal. I'm glad I finally started believing my writing.

I think the most important thing I have studied this year is integrated writing. Firstly, it allowed me to understand the format of MLA. I believe this is how I will be writing regularly in the future as I go forward in my studies. Secondly, I also tried to get away from the limitations and constraints of writing in high school. This has definitely made my writing read with more energy and spirit. Also using more sources makes the analysis of the essay more objective and comprehensive. I am glad to learn that college writing has made my writing skills more prominent as well, and that I will no longer limit myself to edit, but will make plans for large revisions with the reader in mind. Of course, after this period of relentless practice, I have come to understand revision to a great extent. I understand that a good piece of writing requires constant revision. Therefore, I abide by the requirement to make a suitable revision plan before each revision.

After completing the synthesis writing assignment, I learned how to state my opinions in my writing in order to make an argument and explain the significance of what I was writing about.

As a writer, I think the most important thing I learned is to reflect and revise after writing. I also learned that we need to think in the process of writing. Writing without thinking process is meaningless; and writing is a process of mutual communication. Writing cannot be closed. Only mutual communication and learning can make a work perfect. These are very important to me because I didn't reflect and revise every writing before, because I think it's a very troublesome step; and I had no chance to exchange my articles with others before, and no one pointed out my shortcomings. But in this class, I learned that writing needs communication. Only by communicating with each other can make the work more better and understand my shortcomings. I also understand the importance of thinking, reflect and revise, because they are also important steps. Without these steps, the article cannot have a soul and will not become perfect.

In this class, the most important thing that l learned about myself as a writer is the ability of how to revise my essay.

Prior to this class, the only thing I know about revising an essay is to correct the spell of the words, the frequency of the sentence or to basic rhetorical analysis. Learning how to revising an essay provides me the ability of how to make and know the passage's structure. I have a more direct understanding of the structure of the article, such as beam. When I am modifying the article, I am not only concerned about the grammatical errors of the article, but about the structure of the article. Learning how to modify my own article enables me to understand readers' comments on the article and self-reflect on the problems in my article and then modify it.

One of the most important things I learned about myself in this class is how much I value having feedback on my work. This is the most important to me because before I would always just write a paper or do any assignment and then question why I got certain grades or what I could have done better. With feedback I am able to approach things with more clarity and get an actual understanding of what and where I need to improve.

One thing that I discovered as a writer and learned about myself during this quarter is that I’m never afraid of writing things, but sometimes I might feel reluctant to read articles. In fact, the annotations I did this term helped me feel more willing to read since I would have to read these articles so as to take annotations. Moreover, writing literacy journals have helped me feel more comfortable with writing as we write these journals on a regular basis. I consider writing these journals as my continuous output, and I just feel more comfortable with writing after I practice more. More importantly, getting peer feedback, and doing my revision plan helped me with my comfort level of writing. These activities made writing easier for me. I believe that feeling comfortable with writing lots of different things is important to my development since college writers always need to write a lot of academic papers. I would definitely have a hard time suffering and feeling overwhelmed from this writing if I didn’t feel comfortable writing different things on a regular basis. It’s meaningful to me as I used to enjoy writing before my senior year of high school. However, I started to feel reluctant to write some of my essays during the fall quarter of my senior year. That made me frustrated last year, so I’m grateful that I’m able to write comfortably at this point again. Moreover, I feel that revision did make my writing journey easier since I would learn the lesson from those drafts that I revised, and had a general idea of where I need to pay more attention in my new writing. I was so glad I was able to improve by doing and completing all my assignments this quarter and learned lots of different things.
