The American and the American identity are both the same yet seen very separate. Identity is something that can be self-perceived but also how others perceive you. The American dream is seen as hope to many individuals coming to America. However many foreigners identify Americans by either being lazy, fat or rich and spoiled. It all depends on where one's perception comes from and the ever changing identity of America.

The American Dream is a lifestyle that many people all across America, and even in other countries, strive towards achieving. Many families move to America so that they can perhaps come closer to living the American dream. One might even question, due to the sort of legendary status that the American Dream holds, whether or not the American Dream and the American Identity, are one in the same. My answer would be, I think that they are different but that does not mean that the American Dream can't be a factor in the American Identity as a whole.

I have issues with the statement that America is the best place for people to thrive. If you are referring to the fact that it's the only place where people can accomplish "The American Dream" I would agree on the level of that the "American Dream" is in the name so you have to succeed in America to have succeeded in the accomplishment of the American Dream. But you can accomplish a good life in other places too. There are places all across the globe where you get a better education and have the chance of having a better, healthier life.

The American Dream is a phrase that is known all over the world. It is an idea that if you work hard and are dedicated you will be successful and that brings people from all corners of the world to America. However, the American Identity is how people identify as American by shared ideas and beliefs of what it is to be an American. Regardless, if someone was born in America or became a citizen at a later date. The point being, is that the American Dream and the American Identity is obtainable by anyone that has "the dream" in their heart and it does not matter where you were born.
