Hello, Incoming S1 Returnee Students! I am looking forward to a productive and stimulating year with you. Our first author is J. D. Salinger. He was not terribly prolific, and is well known for having been a recluse. He had pronounced interests in spirituality, especially Buddhism, and was connected to the Beat movement. While he didn't produce a lot, the stories he did write very powerfully comment on the America of his time, the 50s, and are perennial favorites. I hope you enjoy him.

This subgroup was first developed in the United Kingdom in late 19th century. The fitness sport became popular after the world games for bodybuilding was established in 1981.

<Food>

Diet of a bodybuilder would mostly likely consist of food containing proteins, for instance, protein shakes, chicken, red meat, and eggs. Their diet would also eat low glycemic carbs, legumes. Bodybuilders eat a lot of proteins and minimum amount of fats to gain muscle and lose fat as much as possible. Protein is the most important nutrient out of the five components of nutrients(carbs, fats,vitamins, proteins, minerals), because the function of proteins is to help in building and repairing the body.

<Hobbies>

Bodybuilding may be a fitness sport, however, like many other people, is a hobby to exercise in the gym.

Subgroup: Kpop fans
Kpop fans are a collective term given to those who share the same love for Korean pop music and Hallyu (Korean) idols. The subgroup can further be categorized into individual fandoms of specific artists or idol groups. Each of these fandoms have a fandom name given to them by the idol management agency. For instance, fans of the group TWICE are referred to as “ONCE”, while fans of BTS call themselves “ARMY”.

As the Kpop industry has pioneered its way into mainstream media over the past few years, the number of fans have increased drastically as well. While Kpop fans used to be recognized but considered to be somewhat rare in most countries, now, a majority of people engaged in popular music trends are either familiar with or are fans of Kpop. Therefore, Kpop fans can now basically be found anywhere on the globe, even in countries such as the US and Mexico. The most common “gathering spot” for fans, are of course concerts and festivals, such as K-Con and MAMA.

As for their ties to the rest of society, it could be said that Kpop itself is beginning to establish dominion over mainstream media and culture. While the fandoms used to be considered a sub-cultural part of the overall music industry, Kpop fans are now more common than ever, especially due to the success of groups such as BTS and BLACKPINK in topping music charts all over the world. Moreover, the lasting influence of these fandoms will most likely be that they will raise awareness of Korean and Asian culture in general.

Dali expresses unconsciousness outside the oppressive boundaries of rationalism and the soft watches in the painting are considered to be unconscious symbols of space and time. The creature in the middle is fading and shows the uncertainty of dreams and the human mind.

'The Nostalgia of the Poet' by Giorgio de Chirico is a surrealism painting created in 1914. It is one of a series of paintings made in the same year, all on one common subject; the poet. In this artwork, the bust with glasses is juxtaposed with the fish relief in the background. While these two objects seem to be the main motifs of the painting, it is difficult to see any connection between them, hence the surrealism.

This painting is by Heidi Taillefer.
In this painting, surrealism could be seen in the juxtaposition of putting irrevalent things together. Another common factor in surrealism could be seen in that the artsist tries to make some kind of connection between the irrevalent things.
This painting shows three things, worms, butterflies and cats. Taillefer made the butterflies and the worms part of the cat's body. These three things may seem irrevalent, but if you think of it, cats are said to like chasing butterflies around and worms change into butterflies when thew grow. Like this, a slight connection could be seen.

This is a piece of art by Vilde Dyrnes Ulriksen, who is a twenty-one-year-old illustrator based in Norway. At first sight, this seems to be a forest because we see some trees, but then we see fish-like creatures at the top of the illustration, flying. So it can be said that there is perhaps a juxtaposition of the fores and the sea. The "animals" in this picture are very unique; there is a rabbit with an unnatural face, a snake with horns, a gigantic shelled creature with multiple legs and a strange nose and head, an unidentifiable creature with a deer's ears, a bird's beak, and four fore legs. They are unique enough to make the supernatural animal, the unicorn, seem natural. But what is the most supernatural aspect of all, is that the moon is at the bottom corner instead of the top. This illustration is an example of surrealism.

The juxtaposition of a phone and a lobster is an aspect of Surrealism, revealing the unconscious mind in a playful and menacing tone. Therefore, despite the irrelevancy at the first glace, this piece successfully divulges the idea of secret sexual desires.

Like the painting's title which may sound very similar to a child's cry and resembles to the helpless message of a broken family relations signifying the illustration of the interplay between surrealism and psychoanalysis. It is certainly a well known fact that Yves's art works especially this one was inspired by Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis and its language of symbols.

Produced in 1938 for his patron Edward James, Time Transfixed is one of Magritte's most well known works, juxtaposing as it does the timeless and the hasty, the private and the industrial and the everyday and the surreal.
It depicts something that cannot be- steam locomotives do not suddenly appear from fireplaces- but the effect of what is being shown is something deeper and more significant than just simply the impossible or wacky.
The painting has a dreamlike quality; its intradiegetic world seems very much at peace with itself, as if this kind of thing happens everyday. It is the viewer's understanding and response that brings discord. Magritte's use of Surrealism as a medium has a clear message and purpose as such. Time Transfixed is not simply about making the absurd seem possible, it's about unveiling the unseen. Through the paradoxes in his work he encourages his audience to seek him out and to understand their relationship to him better

Cadvre Exquis(exquisite corpse)

Cadvre Exquis are a series of drawings created by games which aims to open up the mind into subconsciousness. The concept was mainly created by Andre Breton, who is a French writer who created the cultural movement of Surrealism in his first edition of Surrealist Manifesto in 1924. Other inventors include Yvon Tanguy,Jacques Pervert, and Marcel Duchamp. Players fold the paper and draw freely, then hide the previous pictures drawn and collaborate on creating a piece of artwork. Because it is based on chance, the resulting pictures often become absurd and humorous. This element and the aim played makes these works to be considered fundamentally surrealistic. The name derives from the first piece created, titled " Le cadavre exquis boira le vin nouveau(The exquisite corpse shall drink the new wine)".

In the early summer of 1941 he arrived in New York and married his third wife.

Before Max Ernst was involved in the Dada movement, he had been studying philosophy and psychiatry at the University of Bonn, until he encountered some Dada artists in Cologne. He is known to be the inventor of the artistic techniques, frottage, in which one draws over an uneven surface, and grattage, in which one oil paints a textured object and then randomly scrapes the paint off.

This art piece includes a long horizon, the time setting at high noon, which can be surmised by the position of the shadows and the shape of the moon, and distorted shapes of trees, which are all aspects of surrealism.

Hidden into the design of the trees are human and animal body shapes including two faces looking to the right and a fist in the tree in the middle, and a bird's head among the boulders on the left.

Poem
" Real and world Bale fans generation has Bernabeu Sections one"

Expository
Guernica - Pablo Picasso

Arguably the most famous of Picasso's work, it is a powerful political message in response to the 🤬's bombing practice on Guernica during the Spanish Civil War. In the painting, we see the depiction of grief and pain expressed through deformed human beings. Along with that, the artistic choice to discard color , which takes away distractions and emotions that correspond to color, further intensifies the emotions. This piece is often seen as a anti-fascist appeal and was used as the symbol for that movement.

"The Human Condition" are two paintings by Rene Magritte , one drawn in 1933 and the other in 1935, and it is considered as one of his masterpieces. The first drawing shows a canvas with the drawing of a landscape, but the landscape matches with the view one can see from the window. The second is similar in the way that the drawing on the canvas matches with the scene of the landscape outside, but the landscape can be seen from a door. The canvas and the scenery outside blends perfectly, creating a dreamy atmosphere. The drawings represent our perspective of the world, where time, place and other set categories lose meaning and, like the canvas, blends in. The title refers to the assumptions and perceptions we make in our daily lives that divides reality from fantasy, when in fact there, according to Magritte, there is no difference at all.

"The Sacrament of the Last Supper" a painting by Salvador Dali characterized by his interest in religion, science, and optimal illusions. The image depicts thirteen figures sitting around a table. Basic religious connections lets us assume that these figures are Christ and his 12 Apostles. The painting's usage of perspective allows Jesus to be the main figure of the painting with his arms stretched out. The usage of surrealism is visible where the portrait is in golden ratio with the dodecahedron in addition. Michael Anthony Novak is spotted implying that "Dalí's true intention, which he has masterfully accomplished on this canvas, is to remind us of what is occurring in every celebration of this mystery of bread and wine: that the worship here on Earth makes present the realities of worship in Heaven."
