- Are there any ideas or details that can be applied to your role as a teacher and/or
the relationship with your students?

- What insights have you learnt about yourself from the reading?

There are actually many ways through which we can communicate our standards and expectations to our pupils. Sometimes, we only express our expectations at the beginning of the year, and presume the pupils will keep to them. Some good examples are:

-Repeated Communication: The expectations are repeated often enough to make sure students absorb it

-Personal Contact: Individual face-to-face contact with pupils helps to communicate expectations through a very personal rapport.

- Are there any changes or improvements that you want to make after reading the article? How would you go about making those improvements and when?
- How can these changes affect your teaching and your students’ learning?

When we give them expectations, we have to be specific and at the same time realistic. A good balance between setting high expectations and realistic expectations allows pupils to be pushed to their best potential, without cases of students giving up achieving the standards halfway through.
