STEP 1: (Preparing the needed materials)

Georgia: First of all, in order to extract oil from a rose, here are the materials we need to gather. So we have fresh roses, carrier oil, glass jar, fine-mesh strainer, and lastly, a small glass bottle.

STEP 2: (Picking the petals)

Juancho: Carefully remove the petals from the stems, ensure not to bruise them. Gently pat the petals dry with a clean cloth. And remove any impurities or damaged petals.

STEP 3: (Fill the jar)

Xian Luis: Place the rose petals in the glass jar, pack them tightly but do not crush them. And make sure that the petals are clean from any excess dirt.

STEP 4: (Adding carrier oil)

Marion: Pour the carrier oil over the petals, ensure that they are fully submerged. And use a carrier oil that complements the scent of the roses.

STEP 5: (Seal and let it sit)

Chris Karl: Close the jar tightly and label it with the date. Place the jar in a cool, dark location, away from direct sunlight. And allow the mixture to sit for at least 2-6 weeks. The longer you let it sit, the more concentrated the oil will be.

STEP 6: (Strain the oil)

Julienne: After sealing and letting it sit. Line a fine-mesh strainer over a clean bowl. Carefully pour the rose oil mixture through the strainer. And

slowly press the rose petals to extract much oil as possible.

STEP 7: (Store the oil)

Georgia: For the last step, we have to transfer the extracted rose oil to the small glass bottle. Seal the bottle tightly and store it in a cool, dark place. And label the bottle with the date and the type of carrier oil used.

Group 2: The Journey of Jasmine Extraction.

Step 1: Harvesting (Xhawna)

- We begin by harvesting jasmine flowers in the early morning hours. Why do you think it's important? ( Jewel ) is it because harvesting jasmine flowers early in the morning give the essence of their fragrance at its most potent and beautiful.?

That's right! Jasmine flowers release their fragrance at its peak in the early morning, ensuring we capture the most potent and beautiful aroma.

Step 2 : Preparation ( Jewel )

- After harvesting, we carefully prepare the flowers. This involves cleaning them thoroughly, removing any dirt, debris, or insects. We also inspect the flower for any damage and discard any that are imperfect. This step is crucial for ensuring the quality of the final oil extract.

Step 3 : Steam Distillation ( Chow )

- Next, we use a process called steam distillation. Steam is passed through the flowers, carrying the volatile oil molecules into a condenser. The steam is then cooled, causing the oil to condense into a liquid. This gentle method preserves the delicate fragrance of jasmine oil, making it ideal for capturing its essence.

Step 4 : Separation ( Andrea )

- After distillation, we collect the condensed oil and water mixture in a separate container. The oil, being lighter, floats on top of the water. We then carefully skim off the oi using a separator or a spoon.

Step 5 : Purification ( Keonne )

- The final step is optional, but it can improve the quality and clarify of the oil. (Francis) We can filter or decant the extracted oil to remove any remaining water or impurities.

(Christine joy)Step 1: Harvesting Lavender

- Timing: Harvest lavender flowers when they are in full bloom, typically in late spring or early summer. This is when the essential oil content is at its peak.

- Method: Harvest the flower spikes by cutting them just below the flower heads. Avoid harvesting when the lavender is wet, as this can affect the quality of the oil.

(Angel)Step 2: Preparing the Lavender

- Drying: Allow the harvested lavender to air dry in a well-ventilated area, avoiding direct sunlight. This will help preserve the essential oil content.

- Optional: You can lightly crush the dried lavender flowers to release more of the aromatic compounds.

(Ethan) Steps: Setting Up The Distillation Apparatus

-Boiler: Fill the boiler with clean water

leaving some space at the top.

-Still: Place the dried lavender flowers

in the still ensuring they are submerged in water.

-Condenser: Connect the still to the condenser, ensuring a tight seal.

-Collection Vessel: Attach a collection vessel to the condenser's outlet.

(jarried) Step 4: Distillation Process

- Heat: Gently heat the boiler until the water starts to simmer.

- Steam: Allow the steam to rise through the lavender flowers, carrying the volatile essential oil.

- Condensation: The steam travels through the condenser, where it cools and condenses back into liquid form.

- Collection: The condensed liquid, a mixture of water and essential oil, drips into the collection vessel.

(Jophiel) Step 5: Separation of Oil and Water

- Settle: Allow the mixture to settle in the collection vessel. The essential oil, being less dense, will float on top of the water.

- Siphon: Carefully siphon the essential oil from the top layer, leaving the water behind.

(Sitti)Step 6: Drying and Storage

- Dry: Use a desiccant (e.g., anhydrous sodium sulfate) to absorb any remaining water from the essential oil.

- Store: Store the dried essential oil in a clean, airtight container in a cool, dark place.
