         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="https://www.latvia.travel/en/sight/venta-waterfall">The Venta Rapid</a> is the widest waterfall in Europe, which in spring and autumn offers a view on flying fish. The width of the waterfall is around 100—110 metres, while its height is 1.8—2 metres. The waterfall can be viewed along its entire length from both the sides of the river, as well as from the iconic brick bridge across the Venta, which is located 200 m downstream from the waterfall.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="https://www.latvia.travel/en/sight/gauja-national-park">The Gauja National Park</a> is the largest and oldest of the national parks in Latvia, characterized by great biological diversity, variety of landforms, natural springs, sandstone outcrops, picturesque views and unique natural, cultural and historical monuments.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>The Gauja National Park stretches over more than 90,000 hectares, protecting the most beautiful section of the Gauja Valley along the Gauja River between Valmiera and Murjāņi.<br><br></div><div>There are over 500 cultural and historical monuments in the territory of the Gauja National Park – castle mounds, brick castles, churches, manor houses, watermills, windmills and other archaeological, architectural and art monuments.<br><br></div><div>Scattered along the Gauja River, there are 19 ancient castle mounds, six medieval castles and three towns – Straupe, Sigulda un Cēsis.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A onetime gift from the Russian empress Catherine the Great, the <a href="https://rundale.net/en/">Rundale Palace</a> is the most elegant remnant of imperial rule from St. Petersburg left in Latvia.<br><br></div><div>It can be found encircled by blooming rose gardens and English-style lawns close to the town of Bauska.<br><br></div><div>The designs of the façade and grounds are flamboyant and extravagant in the extreme, oozing with all the Italian-esque opulence and eccentricity you’d expect of a piece by the celebrated architect of the Russian court, Bartolomeo Rastrelli.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="https://karostascietums.lv/en/">Karosta Prison</a> is a museum in the Karosta district of Liepāja.<br>The building was built at the beginning of the 20th century as Karosta Hospital. Since the revolution of 1905, this building has been used by all authorities as a place for disciplinary action by the military.<br>Karosta Prison had performed its functions until 1997, the last prisoners were soldiers convicted by the Latvian Navy.<br>Today, the prison has a museum with entertainment for historical sensations.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="https://www.tourism.sigulda.lv/turaida-medieval-castle-en/">The Turaida Castle</a> is a medieval castle located on the opposite bank of the Gauja River, near Sigulda. It was recently reconstructed and is a part of the Gauja National Park. It was built in 1214 by the Livonian Brothers of the Sword at the place where a Livonian (Līvi) wooden castle had previously stood. The grave of the legendary Rose of Turaida is in the grounds of the castle.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><br></strong><a href="https://www.visitdaugavpils.lv/en/turisma-objekts/daugavpils-cietoksnis/">Daugavpils Fortress</a>, is an early 19th century fortress in Daugavpils, Latvia. It is the only early 19th century military fortification of its kind in Northern Europe that has been preserved without any altercations. The construction of the fortress began in 1810 by decree of Tsar Alexander I of Russia. Construction of the fortress, due to Napoleon's invasion, lengthy delays, serious floodings and slow construction work, was fully completed only almost 70 years later, in 1878.<br><br></div><div>The Mark Rothko Art centre is located in the former Artillery arsenal.<br><br></div>]]></description>
