He began his career as president of Answer Page, California's first paging resale company, which he ultimately sold to Graphic Scanning. Mark H. Dunaway then transitioned into entrepreneurship as founder and CEO of A Beeper/A Cellular, which he led for five years and ultimately sold to Verizon predecessor Bell Atlantic. Mark H. Dunaway then founded Dunaway Enterprises, through which he funded six startup companies and sold four. At the same time, he served as a consultant to British Telecom, in which role he led as president of pager subsidiary North America Enterprises. He remained active in telecommunications as founder of The Beeper Company and as CEO and chair of PNI Technologies, a start-up venture that he led to its initial public offering (IPO). Mr. Dunaway has also distinguished himself as co-founder of Friend Technologies, later sold to a Georgia public technology company. He has led as CEO and chair of a number of held companies, including Verso Technologies and Composite Materials Technology, the latter of which he built to $18 million in annual revenue.
