I had a stressful and busy week because of work and other priorities. I got stuck in my workstation at home almost all the time. Each day, I was getting up from bed, doing the same routines, then back to bed feeling tired and drained. The busy week has finally ended. I still woke up at the same time, 5 am. I went out to see if the weather was clear. It was gloomy, quiet and a few birds humming. Amid that peaceful morning, I was reminded of all the great creations of Our Heavenly Father. Even in the most busiest and difficult times, we should take time and appreciate all the beautiful gifts and creations around us which can bring a sense of calm and peace. Feeling that calming morning signifies the gentle, ever-present gifts of life around us. In these moments, we can find peace, reflect on our blessings, and feel closer to the Savior.

Almost a year ago, I received my endowment in the Temple, and I can testify that the experience was powerful and transformative. The endowment is a sacred covenant between us and the Lord, providing us with instruction, covenants, and promised blessings. These blessings offer power, purpose, and protection daily as we strive to remain true to the gospel and hold on to the iron rod. As we connect in the Atoning power of Our Savior, He provides the means to repent and forgive when we make mistakes. This enables us to progress and grow in our understanding and obedience to the covenants we have made.

God fulfills His promises and carries out His word. His law must be fulfilled and His justice is unquestionable. As we trust and believe in Him, we will endure hardships with faith, resist temptation, and inherit the kingdom of God, which was prepared for us as we become obedient and meek. The Lord's promised mercy is to receive His fullness and everlasting joy.

I experienced the Lord's mercy and justice when I chose to distance myself from individuals who espoused unjust or unkind beliefs towards others. Though I may have felt a sense of loss as I stepped away from their social circle, I found profound peace and comfort in knowing that I had chosen to stand up for what was right. In that moment of seeming solitude, I felt the Lord's love and protection, reassuring me that I had made the right choice.

As we submit ourselves to His will, He blesses us with the strength to resist temptation and endure tribulations, even as we stand for righteousness. It is in this meekness and obedience that we inherit the kingdom of God, where everlasting joy awaits. My personal experience with the Lord’s mercy and justice signifies the power of this truth. Despite the discomfort of parting ways with those who espoused unjust beliefs, I stood firm in my convictions.

During pandemic, I received a job opportunity that was highly-compensated and allowed me to work anywhere, even at the comfort of my home. A year later, due to post-pandemic shift to the new normal – most of the companies went back on-site work and some had to let go their employees to review their financial dilemmas.

I’d encourage them to take a step back and look at the small, simple things in their life. Sometimes we expect miracles to be grand or obvious, but many of God's miracles are quiet and easy to miss—like a moment of unexpected peace, a kind friend at the right time, or even the strength to get through a tough day.

I'd invite them to pray and ask Heavenly Father to help them see His hand in their life. Over time, as they reflect on their experiences with an open heart, they may begin to notice God’s influence in ways they hadn't before. Finally, I’d remind them of the promise in Alma 30:44 where Alma says, "all things denote there is a God," and encourage them to consider the beauty and order in creation as a daily reminder of God’s love and presence. Sometimes, simply shifting our perspective can help us recognize the miracles already surrounding us.

I’m currently mentoring a student who has been feeling deeply troubled and helpless due to her medical situation and is on the verge of dropping her classes. She has a busy work schedule and often doesn’t respond to my weekly outreach. Despite her lack of response, I make sure she knows she’s in my thoughts and prayers. Recently, I invited her to meet, and she agreed to join a Zoom call. During our conversation, I felt her struggles profoundly, and by listening closely, I felt inspired to offer her encouragement and support.

This week, she shared the uplifting news that she completed all her assignments and cleared her backlogs, and she plans to continue her studies into the next block. After our talk, she reached out to her husband, who helped her get organized and motivated her to keep going. It’s been rewarding to see her find the strength to move forward.

This experience has truly strengthened my faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Watching this student, who was on the brink of giving up, find the courage and strength to keep going felt like witnessing a quiet miracle. Despite her struggles and initial distance, the Spirit prompted me to reach out with consistent love and encouragement, and I know that this was the Savior’s way of working through me to support her. It was a reminder that He is aware of her challenges and will always send help, even in unexpected ways.

Seeing her respond, finish her assignments, and even seek help from her husband has shown me that, with the Lord’s support, people can find strength beyond their own. It reminds me that miracles don’t always come in dramatic ways; they’re often found in the small, steady encouragement that helps someone push through hardship. This experience has strengthened my testimony of the Savior’s love and His desire to lift us through others, reaffirming my belief that He truly knows each of us and cares deeply about our needs.

Week 8: Closer to Christ through the Sacrament and Embracing the Savior's Atonement

Reflecting on the question “Why do I need the Savior’s Atonement?” has reminded me of how deeply personal and essential the Atonement is to each of us, regardless of where we are on our spiritual journey. Even when we strive to live righteously and follow the teachings of Christ, we still need His Atonement. It’s not just for those who have made major mistakes but for everyone, because it is through the Atonement that we can endure trials, find healing from our weaknesses, and continually grow spiritually. It is through the Savior’s sacrifice that we receive grace to become better versions of ourselves and to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father. This reflection has helped me appreciate that the Atonement is not only for moments of sin or suffering but is a daily source of strength that empowers us to progress and overcome the challenges of life.

I can also see how pondering the Savior's suffering in Gethsemane and on the cross deepens my gratitude. When I consider the pain He bore for me, it makes me feel a greater sense of responsibility to do all I can to align myself with His will. It also reminds me that I am never alone in my struggles, as He understands every pain and difficulty.

As for embracing the Lord's atoning sacrifice, I’ve come to realize that it is not just about seeking forgiveness but about living in a way that honors what He did for us—loving others, serving with compassion, and striving to be better each day. Through this, we are empowered to embrace His Atonement and allow it to shape our lives for the better.

I have learned that we need the Savior’s grace because, despite our best efforts, we cannot achieve perfection on our own. We are all imperfect, but through His grace, the Savior helps us overcome our weaknesses and shortcomings. He bridges the gap between where we are and where we can become, offering us the strength to continue moving forward.

Faith and obedience are essential in receiving the Savior’s grace. Elder Uchtdorf explains that grace is not something we earn, but it is given freely to all who seek it. Faith in Jesus Christ allows us to trust in His power, and obedience opens the door for us to receive that grace. As we strive to align our lives with His will, we invite His grace into our lives and allow it to help us grow.

The Savior’s grace can change our lives by enabling us to become better versions of ourselves. It empowers us to overcome sin and weakness, to heal from mistakes, and to progress along the path toward becoming like Him. Elder Uchtdorf emphasizes that grace is not just for the moment we repent but is a continual gift that strengthens us through all of life’s challenges.

We must rely on The Lord's grace more intentionally by trusting in the Savior’s love and grace, even when we feel inadequate. Elder Uchtdorf reminds us that “we can make it” because of Jesus Christ’s grace, and we should allow that truth to guide our actions daily, knowing that even when we fall short, His grace is sufficient to lift us up and help us keep going.

We can feel the Savior’s love in quiet moments and through His tender mercies. The hymn "I Feel My Savior's Love" reminds us to look for His hand in our lives—through nature, the kind acts of others, or the peace He gives us in prayer. His love is constant, and as we reflect on these blessings, we come to know that the Good Shepherd deeply cares for us. As part of the Good Shepherd's folds, we can assist in His work by following His example of ministering to the one, being kind, and helping others feel His love through our actions. Small, sincere gestures of service can uplift those who feel lost or forgotten.

Even during those times when we may feel like we don't belong in His folds, Our Savior's love reassures us to bring peace and hope to us. Even when we feel distant, we can draw closer to Him by seeking His guidance through prayer, immersing ourselves in His teachings, and allowing His love to work in our hearts. Trusting in His love can help us feel that we belong.

His love is freely given to all. To foster belonging, we can reflect on the Savior’s love for us and strive to show that same love to others. Creating inclusive spaces, listening with empathy, and offering kindness can help others—and ourselves—feel the warmth of the Savior’s fold. It's a powerful reminder r that the Savior's love is ever-present, and as we feel it and share it, we can strengthen our connection to Him and those around us.
