In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson helped to create a hydroelectric dam that would contribute to World War 1, however, the war ended before the completion of the dam. Later, the dam was finished in order to produce and sell electricity (which is a part of how TVA started). They established a lot of of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, Devil's Lake State Park, and Wyalusing State Park, along with many smaller parks. In the northern part of Wisconsin, the CCC focused on reestablishing forests that have been cut by the logging industry. During the Great Depression it broadened the amount of people that qualified to get loans for housing. With it, not all, but more people were able to get a house due to the purpose of loans. Loans made it easier for everyone to pay/afford housing. Rather than an article, this is actually a letter from Lorena Hickok to Harry L. Hopkins. Hickok was in the TVA in June of 1934 and sent reports to Hopkins about her impressions and reactions to the TVA. One of her main ideas was that the TVA was one of the most significant programs within the new deal. She also exclaims throughout the letter how much potential she sees in it. The FDIC improved the banking system by insuring deposits in Federal Reserve member banks in order to guarantee they still provide bank customers today. The banks pay the insurance premiums to guarantee their customers deposits.
