Government and laws are important because that is how we respect our society and be fare. Also to keep our society clean and nice. Hammurabi's codes of laws tells me that Mesopotamia is not a very nice country but is working on it. Some of Hammurabi's codes was important to Mesopotamia because with out them Mesopotamia would be a bad place to live. These codes of laws are important to day because there are some that are like ours and the only reason it is like that is because we used some of Hammurabi's codes of law. I think that the code of law helped resolve the conflicts that was to be addressed. This type of government helped Mesopotamia survive because if there wasn't laws then the world would be like a war.

Class Divisions

The types of class divisions in Mesopotamia where there where Kings and priest that where the upper class. There where Scribes, Merchants and Artisans, and Commoners were the middle class. The last class was the lower class which slaves where in. A skill for the upper class might be to order someone to do something and make sure that the palace is good. A level of education for the middle class might be to write and draw. A skill for the lower class might be to be strong and listen to the king. The classes of levels where created in Mesopotamia to divide the richness and the poorness. The benefits of being in the upper class is that you tell everybody what to do and you get to relax, the drawbacks of being in the upper class is that you have to focus on your palace and not do anything else. The benefits for the middle class are that you have important stuff to do and cool stuff to do, but the drawbacks of the middle class are that you have to work and you have to get orders. The benefits for the lower class is that you are with your family working, but the drawbacks for the lower class are that you have to work really hard and that you get hit with rope.

The type of religion that Mesopotamia had was to worship gods and give offering to them. One belief they had was if they have good offering and good prayers than the gods will give fortune to the city. Another belief they had was that if they make the god mad than floods, war, and other disasters will happen. The third belief they had was that only priests knew how to communicate with the gods. a ziggurat is a type of massive stone structure built in ancient Mesopotamia. It has the form of a terraced compound of successfully receding stories or levels. Each city in Mesopotamia had its on primary god. At the top of the ziggurat was a shrine of the god, they built it high so the shrine can be as close to the heavens. The core of the ziggurat is made of mud bricks covered with baked brick laid with bitumen, a naturally occurring tar. Each of the baked bricks measured about 11.5 x 11.5 x 2.75 inches and weighed as much as 33 pounds. It was located in the Dhi Qar Province in prsent day Iraq and was built around 2100 B.C. Today, after four thousand years later, it is still standing in the middle of the desert. So yes there is some that still exist.
