Christians persecuted the jews in belief that jews deliberately spreading the disease. Christians held the first massacre in 1348 over 40 jews were murdered in there homes in Barcelona. for over 345 years this myth was passed down in Christianity history. Miasma was also another reason, many people believe that the black death was caused by the bad aroma. To prevent the bad air in side there homes and to stop them from breathing it in there would breath in herbs and ensure that all doors and windows were shut before going to bed. With many people dying harvesting was hard without the amount of people completing required tasks for everyone to be able to survive these tasks included collecting crops and helping crops grow. Food prices went up due to the loss of harvest, this caused peasants to work harder and suffer exhaustion and starvation which lead to more deaths.
