         <description><![CDATA[<div>Fastest to slowest: Glucose, Fructose, Maltose, Sucrose, Lactose , Starch&nbsp;<br>Based on molecular size, glucose is the smallest of the molecules. Fructose is the second smallest, and maltose is 2 glucose molecules bonded, so naturally it would be the smallest of the polysaccharides. Sucrose is Fructose and glucose, the two smallest monomers, so it comes after maltose. Lactose is composed of galactose and glucose. Since we don't know how big galactose is, but the disaccharide is smaller than the polysaccharide of starch, the largest of the molecules.</div>]]></description>
