1) grade-level content standard

2) a lesson objective that is SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound)

3) an assessment that can measure how the student grasps the class objective

4) UDL strategies (representation, engagement, action and expression) that support ALL students engagement

Examples: Clarifying the meaning and purpose of your objective for the day, connecting prior knowledge to new knowledge, and anticipating and planning for challenges

Any technology that a school offers should be accessible to everyone that may use it (this includes not only students but also teachers and staff). They can use things like closed captioning, screen readers, etc. Title 2 of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act are both laws that help to ensure that schools are providing equal access to students even if they are disabled.

Accessible Education Tools

In order for education materials are accessible they should follow POUR (perceivable, operable, understandable, robust). Things like captions help material to be perceived by the entire audience, whether that be because they have a hearing disability or they are attempting to watch something in a loud environment. IN order for something to be operable it must be able to have different input methods. Adding definitions to terms allows for education materials to be more understandable to an individual. And finally, in order for something to be more robust it must be able to work well with assistive technology that a student may be using.

Assistive Technology

According to IDEA an assistive technology service is "any service that directly assists a child with a disability in the selection, acquisition or use of an assistive technology device." Technology can be edited to be read by screen readers that may be used by disabled students. These edits include making sure pictures have alt text, there is captioning on videos, word documents and slides are tagged, and there are clear (non-duplicated) headings.

Speech Language Disability

Students with a speech language disability have disabilities related to. Students will have support needs in articulation, fluency, voice and language. They usually support from a speech language pathologist (sometimes).
