This is a fantastic opportunity and something I don’t want to waste. In haste of getting there I wanted to have a look at what they are currently doing which will give me a heads up as to what to expect when I get there. Moross studios have recently done a lot of work with musicians creating entire campaigns, album covers, merchandise, and art directed a tour. This is incredibly exciting and something I’m all for I love creating new stuff for music as it is a big love of mine. Something to be used on the vip section of the website. This years theme is post apocalyptic which is super fun so straight away I wanted to research some. And what came to my mind first is what I imagine a vip post apocalyptic party would look like, which would be the people that live in the high society places but ruined over time compared to the rest of the places, like in the movie Snowpiecer, the rest of the world in ruin and the select few living the high life. So I looked at some of my favourite tv and movies for inspiration as to how I could go about this. This I am glad, I don’t want to stick within the normal boundaries of book making and I am interested in producing that hasn’t been done before. It was great to get a new voice on the concept of the book and being able to have someone to discuss what’s good and what isn’t and what we could do with that information. Since i’ve done it before I explained to them every part of the project and what is needed to be done, it was good to see what they thought about certain things from being on the outside looking in, as they spotting interesting little pieces that I didn’t. We came up with 4 solid ideas; a book that was shaped and themed to a square, so the text was square and the images were square as well as the book itself. An abstract book , that has odd pages and block abstract colours and shapes as well as images. A audio book that is pressed onto vinyl, and a book that is catered to dyslexic readers. After much humming and haring breaking down all the aspects of the concepts, what we could do with them and what we couldn't. Could we be able to achieve what we wanted with the given budget and time frame we had it eventually led us to the concept of creating a book catered to dyslexic readers. This will be a fun book to create as it has not been done before in Anthology, and hasn't been done very often in the book world full stop. All I have found is a book that was made to look like how people with dyslexia view reading. This was a bit of a let down, however after deep searching I was able to find an important document by the British Dyslexia Association. This information listed all the specifics of when it came to producing anything text wise for dyslexic readers. This was a pivotal moment for us as a group, as we finally had something solid that we could use for the layout of our book. We found that there was a few fonts that were good but also there was a special font that was made especially for dyslexic readers called Dyslexie. We wanted to test it out first before we Decided to use it so we got some friends who are dyslexic to read from the text using this fund. We found out that they didn’t find the font easier to read but actually more difficult which a bit of a letdown. so we decided that we will not use this font but look at all the other fonts that were recommended to use for dyslexic readers. these fonts were a Arial,  Comic Sans, Verdana, Tahoma, Century Gothic, and Trebuchet. So taking into account with these fonts I edited the layouts the spacing the grades everything that needed to be changed with these funds to make the more easier to read. We loved the prospect of using coloured acetate so I got some coloured acetate and give them to some friends who are dyslexic and then they tested out all the different colours to find which one works best. We found out that the colour is dependent on each person rather than a single colour used for all. That gave us the idea of having a sheet of coloured acetate per book but only a single sheet of one colour so people are able to take the colour that they find works best for them. And since we want to include a coloured piece of acetate in our book we got the idea of having a pouch in the front of the book accommodating for that sheet of acetate. We then wanted to test out that idiot of cutting out the front cover of the book to show the acetate beneath having some kind of illustration or graphic on the front that will allow people to see the acetate below so it will add to the entire design of the book. So I researched the Original 10, which are the first ten books that were ever published by Penguin. These books were; Aerial by Andre Maurois, A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway, poets pub by Eric Linklater, Madame Claire by Susan Ertz, The Unpleasantness at the Bellona Club by Dorothy L. Sayers, The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie, Twenty-Five by Beverly Nichols, William by E.H. Young, Gone to Earth by Mary Webb, Carnival by Compton Mackenzie. Some of these books I recognise but others I have never heard of, I like the idea of incorporating it into my advert, just one book, either a well known or a unknown one. As I think both would work well but produce different response. I want to take some inspiration from books like J.R.R Tolkien’s The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogy, Phillip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy. These books are fantasy and have such beautiful descriptions of magnificent landscapes, and I want to illustrate something adjacent to that.
