This means that however you treat someone else,  you will be treated the same way.  This relates to the concept of karma, which comes from Hinduism and Buddhism. Karma means that the sum of a person's actions in this and previous states of existence, are viewed as deciding their fate in future existences. So how you act towards others will impact your fate. Therefore, if you are constantly rude and mean to others, you will be unfortunate and have a difficult life.
