         <title>Key Components of a Guided Reading lesson!</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Students responsible for reading<br>-Ensure that students have a base knowledge of concepts of print before beginning guided reading. This can be taught during shared reading.<br>-Create groups of students who are on similar reading levels.<br>-Be flexible and be ready to switch groups at the drop of a hat based on their improvement or lack there of. <br>-Prompt students in a way that encourages them to think for themselves. Simply asking yes or no questions does not develop their literacy as efficiently.<br>-Have students that are not participating in Guided Reading completing the daily 5 so that you, as the teacher, can adequately listen and analyze the groups reading struggles and successes without being disturbed.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Pre/During/Post of your GR</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Pre- Allow students to warm up using a familiar text. Review the elements of phonics that the group particularly struggles with. Introduce the new text by prompting students to make inferences and taking a browse through each page of the book. Review strategies the students might need to be successful in reading the book. <br>During- Allow students to read the text alone out loud and observe while taking notes on each child. <br>Post- Encourage students to come back together and prompt them with questions that stimulate their  comprehension such as asking them to retell the story, and using HOTS to reach for understanding. This would be an appropriate time to elaborate on the text with another activity, but know that that is not always needed. Sometimes, the text alone is just as beneficial for developing their literacy. </div>]]></description>
