We learned that the kids ( Marco, and Pol) Speak spanish and french and english is their third language. They both have interacted with American college students before they have expressed they need help finding out research about their topic and as well as needing a google form accessible to more adolescents in America from ages 15-18. Lastly they also expressed concern about spelling and grammar in their research paper.

I learned that this community i'm working with comes from a Spanish speaking school. Some speak a little english while others don't speak any at all. The child i'm working with knows very little english. He knows what animals are in english, and some other basics like shirt, car, and tv. But when it comes to the bigger things he couldn't understand. Not only was I asking questions, but so was he. He was very good at knowing when to ask a question

What I know about the community I'm working with is that all students come from a Spanish speaking background. Some of the students know a little bit of English and others don't know any English. The student I'm working with doesn't really know any English but she does know a few words that she's been learning in school, such as "cat," "dog," "excuse me," and "stop." She does seem very eager to learn though, and she even asked me some questions in Spanish after I asked her basic questions to get to know her! I'm looking forward to continuing this experience and hoping I can teach my student as much English as possible.

First off, I want to say that this protect is so fun for me, and to the children that I am working with. I discovered that the children I am working with come from a Hispanic heritage, and they are very fluent in Spanish. I can relate to this because I know so many languages myself, and one of them happpened to be Spanish. We discovered that some students at this school aren't fluent in English and hail from diverse backgrounds. Our team encountered numerous inquiries regarding social media, which appears to be a stimulating subject for discussion and collaboration. It's intriguing to note that each group is tackling a distinct question, adding to the diversity of our collective efforts.

I learned that the student that i worked with is from Guatemala and he lives with his mom, dad, cousin, and aunt. the student i was speaking with has just started school recently but he does know english very well. the only word he needed help on pronouncing in english was aunt and the rest of the conversation went fluently. The community im working with shows improvement in speaking english but there are still some obstacles to jump over.

I've discovered that not every student at MLF Sevilla is proficient in the English language. I learned that the community we are working with wants to get information here in the US as well as in Sevilla. So, the students sent us a google form to send to our friends and family to get a better idea of what kinds of eating habits we have here in the US.

What I have learned with the community I am working with is that communicating with people you have never met before is not easy, especially with individuals of another language. Then teaching the students from Sevilla grammar, how to find credible sources, and then cite those sources. During the third meeting I shared an Adelphi citation video on the library website the students seemed to understand and enjoy the video. I learned with the Sevilla students that since English is not their first language, they might have an easier understanding with not only a voice speaking to them but also a visual representation. This helped the students apply knowledge to their education as well as an outlook of what a higher education such as a University expects.

The Sevilla students have been great communicators over email. I think they feel the most comfortable communicating that way. I believe the students I am working with have a very bright future and are ahead of their years in their critical thinking skills.

After meeting with the freeport student I learned that he speaks very little english and communicating with him was much harder than I expected. I only know a little Spanish from high school, helping me ask the basic questions but when it came to him asking me questions I had to use an app to help. It felt like he was teaching me more Spanish than I was teaching him english. He seemed to really enjoy the slides we had prepared for him and he had a good basic knowledge of english, so when preparing for the next meeting we got to some of the harder things in english then just colors and animals.

I wonder if we will be able to effectively communicate with one another? Also another thing i wonder about is how the students feel and if they are comfortable expressing themselves.

I have learned that it is hard to communicate with the exchange students. I'm not sure if there is a language barrier or if it's because the meetings are over zoom. What I have learned about the community of the Freeport Bilingual Students is that majority of the children speak more Spanish than English. Some of the students speak and know a little bit of English but others don't know any at all. The student I'm working with doesn't know any English, she only knows a few words and is fluent in Spanish. She is definitely eager to learn though and I have been doing my best with teaching her words. It is not the easiest to communicate but google translate facilitates this barrier. I'm also fluent in Portuguese so this helps me understand my student when she speaks in Spanish! Lastly, my student is eager to ask me questions!! I've noticed that she wants to learn English and she's very patient and committed to the process!

I learned that the student, William, speaks very little English and Spanish is his main language. I also learned that the majority of his class only speak Spanish and come from various parts of Central & South America. Despite the language barrier, he was very interactive and not afraid to ask questions. He also tried to speak as much English as he could even though both my partner and I were able to communicate in Spanish if he wished.

The student that I met with is from Canada, which I found surprising, and worked hard to communicate with us. This is why one of the suggested uses of my group's assistance is to help them with the writing/editing of their research papers. What I have learned from the last two meetings, is that the students struggle communicating in English because it’s their third language. We were still able to communicate that we have an idea what the students want to achieve for their research project. The students appeared very excited about the survey my group made for their Research. The survey is supposed to collect information from a different age range of what they think about electric cars in the United States and where they are located at.

What I have learned about the community that my group is working with is that you have to be understanding and have patience when working with students who speak a different language. Communication is key and although it was a little messy in the beginning, my group worked together and figured out more effective and beneficial ways for the MLF students to gain valuable information for their project and also learn new knowledge throughout the whole process as well.

we learned that some of the kids dont fully soeak english so we have to try to help them communicate to understand it. these kdis all come from different backgrounds. the group i am working with had concerns about if going to a university would help you with getting a job. i was very interested in researching this topic. i find it very interesting to hear what their opinions on the topic is as well.

What I learned through this experience so far is that it difficult to communicate with people who live in another country and have their own schedule. My groups work got pushed off for a few weeks because the other group was away and they didn't share any documents with us and didn't respond to a few of our emails. I also learned its definitely easier to communicate with them through zoom rather then email, it leaves less room for miscommunication or misunderstandings.

The students I'm working with are Selma. Blanca, and Maya. I know that some MLF Sevilla students first language is not English. I wonder if the communication will be difficult due to this. I learned that they are fluent in French. I also learned about what they needed, such as needing us to help proofread articles, conduct research, and creating a website.

Something I have learned about my community is that it is very hard to align our schedules. We have not been able to meet with out students. Emailing has not been very helpful because nobody responds. I think this experience is a bit hard to navigate with.

We unfortunately haven't been able to have three meetings together due to the kids' time off and technological difficulties. That being said, my group members and I have been preparing a lesson incorporating vocabulary that I think will be helpful/fun for the students! We're taking what we know from our first meeting and pooling all our ideas together to hopefully do even better than last time.

(I didn't know whether or not to do this now since we haven't done three meetings haha.)

I learned that the MLF student speak French and currently learning English as there second language . It was hard trying to communicate with the student both side was having difficulty clearly passing there point across . overall , I found this process very intriguing and it was nice stepping out my comfort zone .

My group has not been able to have three meetings due to technical difficulties and the kids being on spring break. We only had been able to meet them once so far. After my initial meeting, I noticed that with my student there is a language barrier. My student has very little English and Spanish is her main first language. During the meeting, it was challenging for us to figure out what would be the best way to communicate and also be able to make it enjoyable for them to learn. Since then, our group has talked about better ways to teach her English vocabulary and incorporating many pictures and videos to help strengthen their vocabulary and knowledge of English. I hope the next time we meet with them, it will go well!

We are working with the kids whose main language is Spanish and they all come from different backgrounds, some of them speak English or understand a little but some of them do not understand at all. My group and I are working with the girl Ariana who understands a little. At the first meeting, we had some technical issues but we figured it out, we had a presentation where we put pictures and some questions like "what are your favorite animal, color etc.". By doing this we learned a little bit about Arianna and tried to communicate with her through pictures. It is a very interesting experience for me, I'm looking forward to more meetings with the kids!

Due to scheduling conflicts and technological difficulties, we were unable to have a third meeting. Up to this point, our group has only met once. However, we met ourselves with my group to discuss the following time's plans. To help the children learn English, we prepared a presentation using key school vocabulary that they may find engaging. In order to facilitate word memorization, we included a lot of visuals. Translators are quite useful when working with children, I also learned! Hopefully, things will go smoothly at our upcoming meeting!

We learned that our child (Luis) speaks very little English. However, he can understand some words when he's in a conversation. I know all these students come from a Spanish-speaking background and some of them speak slight English. They created a Google Form for us to complete as part of their project on teenagers. My group and I have also been assisting them with the grammar of their study papers.

Based on our first meeting we learnt that the kids have gonna through similar experiences with other colleges making it easier on our end. We were informed about the language barrier and how they were extremely fulent in Spanish or French. Lastly, they told us about the topics they were interested to learn about which helped us create something that aligned with their vision.

What I have learned was that children who go to school speak three languages, which is very impressive. They speak Spanish, English, and French. They need help with their grammar and citing sources. I am glad my group and the other groups are able to help them and to expand their grammar and vocabulary skills. Since English is not their first language, pronouncing and writing sentences can be a little challenging. We are also able to help them with the topic of healthy eating habits and what foods are not healthy for them and can affect them in the future.

Our students were Marco and Pol, who speak Spanish and French. They put together a survey for people under the age of 20 to answer about their eating habits, of which they had us share with others around the same age. After the third meeting, I found that it was more difficult to get into contact with and gather the group together, especially when there are multiple groups working with the same students. It gets somewhat confusing with multiple groups, as the work that each group does with the student tends to blend into one another. The students themselves seem to work rather well and are on top of their research, they just needed to have a larger sample size.
