Pocket was a new app that I had never previously used before unlike Pinterest which I had experience with. Pinterest and Pocket are both used to manage information online, but they have different approaches, Pinterest is more visual, and imagery focused whereas Pocket is more reading and literature.

I wish I had discovered Padlet earlier in my degree because as someone who struggles with brainstorming and organization, Padlet was a game-changer for me. The customization tools allowed me to perfect my work and choose a design that I thought presented my portfolio in the best way. On top of that, Padlet allows me to share my board on my social media page to create more engagement and allow my fellows peers and tutors to review and engage with my work. Using Padlet, I felt more confident in my ability to produce high-quality work, and I look forward to incorporating it into future projects.

This application allowed me to find and curate content that I thought was the most suitable to add to my portfolio and a brilliant feature on the application was the saved articles as well as the estimated reading time for each article. This allowed me to take my time when managing all the articles I had chosen and made the process of selecting the best and most suitable articles a lot easier and smoother.  I was able to organize my saved content into certain categories, and I was then able to share my saved content onto my profile or other social media apps for people to see and engage in. Although I found it an interesting app, I honestly do not see myself using it that frequently for college work however on a day-to-day basis I may find myself on it to explore and find interesting non-related topics to read about.

The best thing about Pinterest I think is the fact that I can use it for anything for example I have used Pinterest in the past for various projects, including 4th year work experience in an architecture firm and I then used it again when I needed ideas and inspiration for designing my bedroom. Using it for a college assignment was a new experience, and I found it to be just as helpful and I will be incorporating the tool into future projects of mine. I think Pinterest is brilliant and found it interesting to be using it in a completely different way/context this time round, but definitely won't be the last.

The ability to create and share videos, as well as organize and revisit them through playlists, is valuable for both personal and academic use. Multiple times throughout making my portfolio I used YouTube videos to help me learn more about something for example I used it to help me learn about Pocket and Padlet.  
 
As I reflect on this module, I am also mindful of the importance of writing for an audience. Knowing that a fellow student will be reading and assessing my work I tried to keep it real and relatable. The feedback that I received from my peers was extremely beneficial, as it helped me to improve my writing skills and gave me a better understanding of the struggles that other students also face when it comes to writing. Taking in their feedback helped me to reshape and improve my essay while also getting a better understanding of the question being asked and what I needed to add. Overall, this module has been a valuable experience for me. Not only have I learned how to use social media tools effectively, but I have also gained confidence in my ability to produce high-quality work. I am grateful for the opportunity to have taken this module, and I am excited to continue using these tools and new skills again in the near future.

Pocket has a clean and simple interface which made it extremely easy to set-up and understand how to use the application even it being my first time. Pocket is great for people looking to read and organize content quickly and discover new articles which may interest them. Pocket has a brilliant distraction-free mode which removes any distractions on the page and encourages the user to focus on the article.

I use social media apps every day, and it wasn’t until completing this module that I discovered my Instagram account was actually public instead of private (which I thought it was all along) and then I also realized that my Facebook profile was reactivated, and I had forgot to deactivate it. These two mistakes by me have highlighted the importance of creating a Personal Digital Strategy for myself which I will follow in the future to avoid making mistakes like that and allowing me to create a more controlled and safer online presence which allows me to present myself in a more professional and positive way, while also having full control of what people can see about me.

Thus, one of the strategies in my plan is to regularly monitor my digital presence to ensure no inaccurate or false information is posted about me, and that no inappropriate or misleading photos / videos are associated with me. I will be job seeking very soon and although employers may not announce it, it is a very well-known fact that employers now look at potential employee's social media pages and their online digital presence (Bohnert, D. and Ross, 2010). Making my social media accounts private is a no brainer to me as it links with my first strategy as it allows me to have total control over who can view my page and see my content, but it also has several other benefits.  Having a private account eliminates the possibilities of stalkers, identity theft, bullying, blackmailing and social profiling (Security, P 2020). This module made me check my social media accounts and it was to my surprise that my Instagram account was actually public instead of private which I have now changed back. I also realized that my Facebook account had been re-activated a while ago, but I have now deactivated my page as I no longer use Facebook as a form of social media. To avoid any mistakes like thinking my social media account is private when all along it was public, I will start regularly auditing and monitoring my social media accounts as the next strategy. I have since created a full LinkedIn profile and have got a greater understanding of how it works and the benefits of using it. While I was browsing LinkedIn, I came across an article which discussed the benefits of reviewing and auditing your social media pages whether it is a business page or just a personal page and how to effectively audit your accounts and set them up for success (Melanie, J. 2021). This made me conscious of the fact that everything I wrote was clear and made sense as I have a tendency to “waffle”. I find the peer review process extremely beneficial as the advice and suggestions I get is from students who have also written a piece on this same topic and have come across perhaps the same struggles or they are able to share their ideas that they included in their work which they think can improve mine. I found the peer review process this time around for portfolio B to work even better as all of us as students had now previously used Peer Scholar and had a better understanding of how to use it, how to give effective reviews, and the time and dates that the reviews are due.
