First we trained our French (new skill for me) on the market and bought some fruits and spices. Lovely colors and lots of smiles, maybe because of the communication, maybe... I also end up buying a mask and a tube, hopefully we have time to go snorkling during our days off on weekend! In the afternoon we visited brand new Memorial Acte museum, which was impressive. Multimedia show and well planned story taught me a lot about the history of the island. At the same time slavery has built the industry and economy of the nation as well as the culture. The visit to the multicultural market was a great experience. I used almost all my French vocabulary, but I was happy to manage with it. I saw an interesting machine, manual sugar cane machine. Visit to the local school was exceptional warm. The children were happy and eager on coping with us. We are looking forward meeting them again on Friday. After that we went to the Memorial museum which was one of the best museum where I have ever visited. It was really good to know the history of this island and the people. Today we spent a day in a Guadeloupean market in Pointe-a-Pitre, at school and in the museum Memorial ACTe. It was interesting to walk through the city, especially in market with rum and spices and other local products. I tried to use my knowledge of French. First of all - Memorial ACTe museum. The most interactive museum I have ever visited. It is a must when you are in Guadeloupe. The appealing history of the island and its people. And much more - it was the history of France and the history of the mankind. From the first minute of teh visit I knew I would have to share it with other teachers from Poland and my students. I started to think how to transfer the knowledge and experience to others.
