Kamilla gets in trouble with Mr. Kim, but Eli and Daniel step in. Later, Eli asks her if she wants to go eat and takes her to get food then drives to the car wash. There's a slow motion montage of them (Kamilla & Eli) in the car wash with this soft, melodic music in the background. They share this moment of togetherness, Kamilla wanting to copy and follow Eli's movements. How was it to exchange this yelling argument with your father and then go into calmer scenes like this?

The two instances that stood out to me most were the scene where Eli stole alcohol from Mr. Kim and proceeded to do donuts around Kamila dancing in the lot outside of the store and the closing scene in which Kamila danced outside the burning store (of course this was for symbolic use as this took place during her perceived death).

Why did you use black and white throughout the entire film?

Did you always envision moments when the film was slowed down (for example the scene where Eli gets beat up in the very beginning) as you were writing the story or are those details something that come up in the editing process?

I really enjoyed how the film both opened and ended with Kamilla dancing next to the burning shoe store. Why did you choose to open with that scene rather than just starting with the initial plot?

Though the film is set during a violent and chaotic event, you often focus on intimate, personal moments. How did you decide which elements of the riots to show and which to leave off-screen, and how did that decision shape the film’s overall message?
