A way this stage can be prevented is by finding similar attributes within each group. During the Darfur Genocide, classification began when Darfur men, women, and children were classified as “less than” government-armed and funded Arab militia known as the Janjaweed. The Sudanese Government also funded the militia, travels around Darfur. 
The guidepost I'll assign to this stage will be guidepost #1, which is "Events, people, or developments have historical significance if they resulted in change. That is, they had deep consequences, for many people, over a long period of time." I assigned this guidepost to this stage of genocide because this event has caused a lot of Darfuri people to loose their lives and family members. A prevention for this stage is by making hate crimes and speech culturally unacceptable. The Janjaweed referred to them as rats. They also said it was like killing mice, they never hurt anyone so you didn't feel guilty killing them because they were just "Pesky and Annoying".  Also innocent men, women, and children are treated like worthless nuances. 
For this stage of genocide i would assign guidepost #2, which is "Events, people, or developments have historical significance if they are revealing. That is, they shed light on a new or continuing  issue in history or contemporary life". A method to prevent this is to protect these moderate members and human rights group. The Janjaweed drove these groups apart by living in different areas as them. So it could be easier to make a barrier between the two groups. The Sudanese government paid the Janjaweed militia to rape and take land away from Darfur's.

I assigned this guidepost because as you can see this event causes more of a separation between these two groups. Therefore it created more problems between them, which led to battles between their own people. A way we can prevent this stage is by giving supports to the victims to ensure their ability to defend themselves. During the Darfur Genocide, this happened when men were put to work or murdered and women and children were raped, put to work, or killed as well. In addition the government is systematically displacing Darfurian citizens from their homes.
 A guidepost that i will assign to this is guidepost #2 from cause and consequence. which is "Some reasons are more important than others". Preventive measures that can be put in place for the denial of genocides are an international tribunal. The Sudanese government has tried to cover up their crimes by not allowing the UN to come and observe attacks on civilians. They have also denied access to any journalists or people who can bring it to the attention of the civilians of places like the U.S., meaning that the whole Genocide has basically been silenced due to how little information we have on it. Sudan denies the access of journalists or UN officials so that we can not find information or really know what is going on in Sudan. The guidepost I will assign to the final stage in genocide is guidepost #3, which is "There are many people who act or do things in a particular time period or setting (social, political, economic, or cultural). The two interplay (i.e. work together) to lead to consequences." I have assigned this guidepost because the Sudanese government have done so much to the Darfur people which has led to a lot of consequences but still choose to hide it and deny everything they did.
