St. Patrick's Day short for Saint Patrick's Day is held on 17th of March every year. The day is commemorated for the coming of Christianity to Ireland. It celebrates the heritage and culture of Ireland. Celebrations generally involve public parades and festivals.

The annually festival is named after St. Patrick. It is believed that St. Patrick brought Christianity to Ireland. Most of what we know of him is from the declaration written by himself. According to the declaration, at the age of sixteen, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken as a slave to Gaelic Ireland. He spent six years there working as a Shepard and during this time he found God. God told St. Patrick to flee to the coast, where a ship would be waiting to take him home. After making his way home, Patrick went on to become a priest.

It is then thought that he brought Christianity to Ireland and converted the Pagan Irish to Christians. Below is a picture of a shamrock. He used this to help explain the Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son, the Holy Ghost, the Trinity

Saint Brigid is one of Ireland's patron saints(Naomh). She was an early christian nun. On the 1 February Saint Brigid's day is celebrated. There are many traditions and customs associated with this day. Spring, the season of new life, brought better weather and longer days. A festive meal of potatoes and butter is eaten and all of the family made special crosses in honor of the saint. They sought St. Brigid’s protection for the fertility of the household, farm and land and to protect them from illness and disease. The St. Brigid’s Cross,is pinned up above the front door or in the kitchen, and is still a familiar feature in many Irish homes. https://youtu.be/29ZbwPRXwis

Halloween - Samhain

Samhain is a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter or the "darker half" of the year.Traditionally, it is celebrated from 31 October to 1 November, as the Celtic day began and ended at sunset.Historically, it was widely observed throughout Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man. As at Bealtaine, special bonfires were lit. These were deemed to have protective and cleansing powers and there were rituals involving them. Like Bealtaine, Samhain was seen as a time, when the boundary between this world and the spirit world could more easily be crossed.People wore costumes as protection from the spirits.
