A Warmer Ocean

The rising ocean temperatures are posing a threat to both marine life and humans. Warmer Oceans are caused by different greenhouse gas emissions. When the ocean absorbs these gasses the water starts to heat up causing ocean temperatures to follow. This affects marine life by causing bleaching in coral reefs and other major breeding grounds where fish lay their eggs. This is very important because if crucial places were fish reproduce are affected fish populations will begin to decrease. Humans will begin to find new diseases in fish that they haven't found before. We as humans can reduce the amount of greenhouse gasses emitted into the atmosphere and that will result in Ocean Temperatures slowing down.

As the polar ice caps begin to melt faster and faster, the threat and thought of sea levels rising haunts our future. Melting of the Polar ice caps is caused by rising air and ocean temperatures around the globe. As the ice caps begin to dissipate more and more animals begin to lose their homes. Polar Bears and Penguins are fleeing their natural habitats and have no where to go. Humans will begin to see the sea levels rising resulting in coastal areas to flood and become inhabitable. One way that we can stop this from happening is to once again cut back on the greenhouse emissions. We can learn how to limit the amount of fuel we burn in our everyday lives.

For the past few decades the Polar Ice caps have been decreasing in size due to global warming. Sea Levels have been rising because the Polar Ice caps have been melting, causing there to be more water in the oceans. If the sea levels keep rising, more than 1,350 animal species will be threatened or at risk of going extinct because of flooding at coastal areas. This flooding will also make many people that live in coastal towns and cities have to move out or else they will be underwater. Us as humans can stop and slow down the rising sea levels by making buffers on beaches so in big storms, storm surge doesn't wipe out coastal towns.

The Earths currents have been changing ever since the Earth has been around. However there is a rapid change in an Arctic current causing ice melt to be much faster than ever seen before. The currents are changing as the Earth warms and these make stronger and more powerful currents around the world. This drives weather and is a big reason on why the Weather on Earth has been more severe in recent years. These new warm/ cold currents could cause different animals to move and migrate to different places around the world. The effect on humans may be that these currents cause Earth's temperature to change drastically causing many things to change. Humans mjust stop emitting so much Greenhouse gas into the atmosphere or else the Earth is in trouble.

Ocean Acidification

Along with ocean temperatures rising, the Ocean is also becoming more and more acidic. Normally the pH of water should be slightly basic hovering around 7.6 on the pH scale, however the Ocean has been creeping more and more towards 7. The Oceans pH right now sits around 7.3 but this is as far acidic as it should get. The Oceans are becoming more acidic due to the amount of pollution around the world. The ocean sucks up the pollution and Water turns more acidic. This is a huge threat to animals because of bleaching that is occurring on major coral reefs around the world. Reefs are home to thousands of different species of fish that rely on the reefs for protection and a safe reproducing grounds. This will harm us as humans because some of the foods we eat that come from the ocean will be ruined and not as healthy as they once were. Fish/shellfish will have limiting amount of nutrients needed to live therefore the quality of the food will be poor. As humans we should be more mindful about our carbon footprint and realize how much we pollute the air we breathe.
