Remember this Logo?
Also the reading indicated that the higher up in the organization you go, the less technical skills you need. I would think this depends on the industry. Here, Steve Jobs was a master innovator and got other innovators to conform to his standards.

Working for a large company has taught me that doing something fast with ok results is worth the time it takes to be fast and doing it well. At least that is what they want. Doesn't make sense to you? Me either? But that is how it goes. They always want both? Very demanding in production environments.

Grabbing someone from different business elements and creating a mini temp company to accomplish a specific task can lead to process adaptation. Problem is always going to be trust. Needs good and dynamic leadership to succeed.

If you go into a situation feeling that you are already defeated, you will be. Employees see that. And they tend to follow their leader. Motivation is a marathon not a sprint.

Again, Doing some research for final project. Controlling measurements/metrics and analysis. The last one on this list is interesting. Effectiveness ratio is something that I see daily at work. It is represented a bit differently, but it is one of the elements our performance review is based on. They use the ratios of my employees to measure my effectiveness. Tough to argue against.

This is correct in structure per se. However, there is no uniform timeline when it comes to unionized employees. It is very difficult to change the behavior of a union employee that simply does not want to conform. They will always do the bare minimum and resist change. In all my years, I have seen the union protect terrible employees and good ones alike. However, it is almost an act of congress to fire a terrible one. The good employees usually take responsibility for their actions and resign depending on how egregious their mistake was. The is a problem with this type of thinking. Sometimes, I just do not understand.

Reading this article reminds me of my first Logistics Management course at FSCJ. Inventory carrying costs and their handling, distribution, and management account for a significant portion of a company's operating costs. Reducing inventory or dependency on a large physical one saves companies millions of dollars. And to always strive for continuous improvement is leading toward an almost zero inventory capability because of the development of the virtual value chain and its capabilities. Whether it is a MTO, or ETO enviroment, the less inventory, the better.
