For example, under the digital citizenship topic students are challenged to answer the essential question, " How do people around the world use the internet and technology for good?" Students may approach this topic by creating a video, writing a journal entry, or creating a PSA that can be shared with others in the PenPal Schools global community. Guided lessons are provided with each topic and students are able to share their work with their peers.

Global Oneness Project resources can be used in multiple ways. An educator can use one of the videos or essays to support a theme, such as tradition. A short documentary, titled "El Silbo", shares the story of the resident of La Gomera and how they are working to keep their traditional whistling language strong within their community. Teachers can use these types of resources to give students global awareness about others' way of life, and what they need to understand about how important culture is even as things are changing all around us. Additionally, teachers may have students connect with others about their cultural traditions which may be important to them and their families as well.

The units can be integrated within Google Classroom and students are challenged to summarize the text, as well as analyze new vocabulary while reading and engaging with the multimedia resources.

Rain's speech is an excellent resource, as it gives a first hand account of his experiences dealing with the cultural effects of his childhood. This can be used in any class to promote writing, as it allows students to reflect on their own experiences. For example, in English this video may be utilized in a narrative unit. Students could be encouraged to write a narrative essay detailing a moment in their lives where they may have been expected to navigate through their own cultural differences or perhaps take the opportunity to interview a peer or family member who may be able to relate with Michael Rain's memories and share those thoughts with the class.
