         <title>Act One</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- 1. We meet some guards and the ghost of the King of Denmark<br>- 2. We meet the new King (Claudius), Queen Gertrude and our main character Hamlet. We learn that Hamlet is still in mourning of his father and everyone wants him to move on. The guards (Horatio and Marcellus) tell Hamlet about the ghost and Hamlets wants proof. <br>-3. We meet Laertes, Ophelia and their father Polonius. We learn Laertes is off to college and that Ophelia and Hamlet are "a thing." Both Polonius and Laeretes discourage Ophelia from pursuing Hamlet. <br>-4. Hamlet and the boys wait outside for the ghost to arrive. We learn that political tensions are high in the Kingdom of Denmark. <br>-5. Hamlet speaks to his fathers ghost and learns that Claudius murdered the King. The dead king tasks Hamlet with avenging his death thus kickstarting the plot of the story.   </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-1. Polonius sends someone to spy on his son, and Hamlet starts acting mad. He scares Ophelia in the process of changing his image. They assume Hamlet has gone mad off of his love for Ophelia. <br>-2. Claudius and Gertrude bring in R&amp;G to figure out what's wrong with Hamlet. The King and Queen are told that Norway has promised to cool it with the political drama and Polonius tells him his theory about the roots of Hamlets madness. Polonius tries talking to Hamlet but is only met with nonsense. There is a play in this scene that's meant to reflect the state of things in Denmark. Hamlet decides to set up a play to trap Claudius into admitting his sin. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-1. The King, Queen, Polonius and R&amp;G discuss Hamlet's state of mind. Hamlet gives his famous "To Be or Not to Be" speech where he contemplates suicide. He and Ophelia speak to eachother and he tells her "Get thee to a nunnery" and basically insults her. <br>-2.  Hamlet's "trap" is set in motion. There is a play to recreate how Hamlet's father died. The play enrages Claudius.<br>-3. Claudius plans to ship Hamlet away in secret, and confesses his sins privately. Hamlet planned on killing his uncle while he was confessing, but changed his mind. <br>-4. Hamlet and his mother speak while Polonius hides behind a curtain. Hamlet assumes it's Claudius behind the curtain and stabs him. Polonius dies. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-1. Claudius talks to Gertrude about shipping Hamlet away. She agrees.<br>-2. R&amp;G interrogate Hamlet for the location of Polonius's body. Hamlet demands to see the king. <br>-3. Hamlet is brought to the king, who then requests the location of Polonius's body. Hamlet acts like a smartass about it and throws subtle insults at the King. The King ships Hamlet off that night.<br>-4. Hamlet talks to some Captain about Fortinbras and then feels like a coward because of his lack of action in his quest to avenge his father.<br>-5. Ophelia has gone mad due to her fathers death, and Gertrude tries to talk to her. Laertes has returned to Denmark very angry and want's to know who murdered his father. <br>-6. A letter from Hamlet is delivered to Horatio letting him know he's coming back to the castle and to let the king know. <br>-7. Claudius and Laertes are planning how to make sure Hamlet actually dies. While plotting, they learn that Ophelia has died. <br> </div>]]></description>

Hamlet learns it was Ophelia who died and gets into an argument with Laertes about who loved her more. Laertes challenges Hamlet to a duel<br>-2. Laertes and Hamlet duel. Hamlet requests forgiveness. Claudius poisons a drink that Gertrude drinks, she dies. Hamlet gets cut with a poisoned sword and cuts Laertes back. Hamlet also stabs Claudius with the poisoned weapon. They all die and Fortinbras claims the throne of Denmark as his own. <br><br></div>]]></description>
