         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Explain how temperature or pH affects enzyme activity.</strong><br>Enzymes work best at an optimum temperature and pH. If the temperature is too high, the enzyme becomes denatured, changing the shape of the active site. This prevents the substrate from binding, so the reaction slows down or stops.</p>]]></description>

However, very high temperatures or extreme pH values cause the enzyme to lose its shape (denaturation).
