1) This method has as its strong point the practice of speaking and teaching through action and demonstration, in the direct method action verbs, images, objects or anything that can be easily understood by the student are used.

2) Promotes the active participation of all students regardless of age, the class is based on oral practice avoiding the use of the mother tongue, improves the student's fluency and confidence to express themselves in the language they are learning, it also improves the ability of written expression.

The Direct Method, also known as the Berlitz Method, is an approach to language teaching that emphasizes the use of the target language exclusively in the classroom. While it has some advantages, there are also aspects that could be improved upon.

Little attention to explicit grammar instruction: While this can be beneficial for the development of oral communicative skills, it often results in limited attention to explicit grammar instruction. Grammatical rules and structures are often learned implicitly through exposure to the target language, which can lead to incomplete understanding and difficulties in correctly applying grammatical principles. Incorporating more explicit grammar instruction and practical exercises would help learners better understand the underlying rules and structures.

Lack of authentic materials: Authentic materials, such as newspapers, magazines, videos and audio recordings of native speakers, expose learners to real-life language use, cultural nuances and a wider range of vocabulary. Including more authentic materials in the curriculum would expose learners to diverse linguistic contexts and improve their language proficiency in a more natural way.

Poor focus on reading and writing skills: The Direct Method primarily prioritizes oral language skills, often neglecting reading and writing skills. Reading and writing are crucial aspects of language learning that allow learners to access a wider range of resources. Incorporating reading passages, writing exercises, and opportunities for written communication would provide a more balanced approach to language learning within the Direct Method framework.

Simulations of real-life situations: Create simulated situations, such as shopping, asking for directions or making reservations at a restaurant, and ask students to interact with each other using the target language. These simulations will give them the opportunity to practice the language in authentic contexts and improve their ability to communicate in real situations. In addition, you can analyze authentic texts, such as newspaper articles, book excerpts or songs, and ask them to analyze and discuss the content in the target language. This will help improve their reading comprehension and critical analysis skills, while giving them the opportunity to explore the culture and literature of the target language.
