In our teams we did a spider diagram of each of the words to see what we can relate to them and how we can have a better understanding and think outside the box. I think themes are good they are different so genres shouldn't mix up too much. Shapes are a good way to help convey what your characters personality. 

Squares are useful for stubborn characters hard to budge and I think Grumpy moods as well.

Circles are good for character that are gentle, soft, safe, good heart.

Triangles are good to convey evil characters, neatness and dangerous.

A lot of work needs to be done to it . I used wood as the cover to make it hard back and wrapped leather around it. I think the leather works well and makes the book look expensive, The wood adds wieght to the book. The spine of the book is wood as well, but I don't think it works well, the book doesn't close neatly. I would think the page being perfect bound would and make it more neat. I have been looking at book corners as when I fold the leather around the cover it leave holes in each of the corners. These metal corner covers make the book more durable and are cheap. I bought some from amazon for a pack of 20 for 5 pounds. The metal corners also add to our idea for a tome a suits the leather effect. It is an easy process to do and make a book, it is possible to be able to make a book in on day. The pages are hold by layers of glue, I didn't think the spine was strong enough so I added a tape mesh. The leather is fake so it doesn't have much give when folding it around edges. The spine needs more work because there was a few errors on the cutting. The size of the book is breaking the usual a5 format. 

In this photo I am using fabric for the hing of the book. Instead of glueing pieces of card together the cloth allows more give and is more durable. Some old books use cloth in the binding as well, I thought using traditional methods could add to the idea of the book and make it look more orthentic. The fabric won't be seen as it will be covered by card. As well it can add a feel to the book that the content inside feels more special. 
I bought my own belt and they can be expensive so i'm not too sure if it is cost effective. The photo is some scrap metal that I'm going to turn into a belt end to add more wieght to it so it doesn't come undone. I think it has worked out well. I had a few difficulties making it as I couldn't find an easy way of sticking the leather together. I used fast adhesive spray for sticking it together. The belt is durable enough to stay around the book, but using it excessivily will break it. I think the having different colours of leather around the book to add contrast would be a good idea.

The book doesn't open properly it feels fragil. I used a mesh like the other one on the spne, but I wrapped it around the edges. This gave it a a strong spine but it can't open up fully and if you try it could break the book.
