The results of this battle marked the end of the French Empire East of the Rhine.]]> 2023-03-16 16:42:52 UTC https://padlet.com/masonbrandon/9raky3bk9os4gkyn/wish/2519709541 masonbrandon https://padlet.com/masonbrandon/9raky3bk9os4gkyn/wish/2524241677 The Battle of Jena-Auerstedt, or the Battle of Jena, was fought between around 122,000 French soldiers, led by Napoleon and Louis Nicholas Davout, and 114,000 Prussians and Saxons, about 63,000 of which led by Duke Charles William Ferdinand and the remaining 51,000 under Prince Friedrich Ludwig.  The battle ended with nearly 12,000 French and 24,000 Prussian/Saxon casualties.  During the battle, Napoleon and his armies crushed the Prussian army, causing the reduction of Prussia to nearly half of its former size at the Treaty of Tilsit in July of 1807.  By 3 PM on October 14th, Napoleon had obliterated Ludwig's troops and reinforcements at Jena.  The news of this victory discouraged the Prussians, giving Davout a free, easy victory by 4 PM.  This Battle marked the end of Napoleon's conquest of Prussia, even before it could utilize Russia as an ally.]]> 2023-03-20 20:35:28 UTC https://padlet.com/masonbrandon/9raky3bk9os4gkyn/wish/2524241677 masonbrandon https://padlet.com/masonbrandon/9raky3bk9os4gkyn/wish/2524255034 The Battle of Austerlitz took place between 68,000 French troops under Napoleon's rule, and a collective 90,000 allied troops from Austria, Russia, and the Third Coalition, under Alexander I, Louis Davout, Duke of Auerstedt, Mikhail Kutuzov, and Karl Mack.  The fight ended in 9,000 French and 15,000 allied casualties.  This fight was the first engagement of the War of the Third Coalition, and was one of Napoleon's greatest victories to date.  Napoleon's victory of this battle forced Austria to make peace with France, temporarily banishing Prussia from the Anti-French Alliance.  What was left of the allied armies scattered, and Francis I of Austria agreed to a suspension of hostilities, arranging for Alexander I of Russia to take his army back to Russia.]]> 2023-03-20 20:51:36 UTC https://padlet.com/masonbrandon/9raky3bk9os4gkyn/wish/2524255034 masonbrandon https://padlet.com/masonbrandon/9raky3bk9os4gkyn/wish/2524278172 The Battle of Borodino occurred between 130,000 French soldiers under Napoleon, and 120,000 Russian soldiers led by General Mikhail Kutuzov.  During the battle, 30,000 French and 45,000 Russian casualties took place.  As the battle raged on, a standoff began, the fight lessening to a cannonade until nightfall.  At night, Kutuzov withdrew, giving Napoleon the opportunity to take Moscow, unopposed.  This, however, ended in a turnaround of events, with Russia, badly mauled, fighting on later, ultimately driving Napoleon out of Russia.]]> 2023-03-20 21:19:50 UTC https://padlet.com/masonbrandon/9raky3bk9os4gkyn/wish/2524278172
