Date: Winter,1777
Location: Philadelphia
Recap in your own words: Washington is training his troops for certain victory against the British. For them, the hike the camp was a pain because its December and its not only freezing but some of the men have injuries from past battles. Not to mention the men didn't have the proper clothing needed to be out in the freezing weather and they had to find supplies like cloth and wood to make makeshift housing for themselves. These all lead to some of the soldiers falling ill but once the French troops arrived it was time for all of them to train. However even though they suffered it was for a good cause because they learned a lot and became better soldiers
Who won and why: no one is fighting right now but it most likely feels like an amazing win for the colonials because even though they suffered they came out stronger than when they started.

Date: July 17,1775
Location: Bunker Hill, Boston and Charlestown
Recap in your own words: Basically, after the battle of Lexington and Concord the Colonials followed the British back to Boston and decided to have another battle there. However the Colonial army was low on ammunition so the commander of the militia said to not fire until they had a clear head shot. this tactic worked against the British and they won two rounds but they had to retreat the third round because they were too low on ammunition. In the end the British won a tactical victory but half there army was killed whilst the colonials didn't lose as much men. this showed the British that the Colonials meant business.
Who won and why: The British won only because the Colonial army had to retreat since they were low on ammo.

Date: Winter,1777
Location: Pennsylvania
Recap in your own words: Basically, Thomas Paine is saying that all the harsh events that America is going through might make the reason they are fighting for become a little blurry. However they must remember who they are doing this for and why they are doing this for. They have to remember that the harder it is to earn something the more valuable the reward ends up being. He wants the people to remember that the freedom and independence they are fighting for will be worth all the suffering.
Who won and why: no actual battle is happening but its feels like a win in confidence boost for the colonials because they are being reminded by Thomas Paine that what there going through will be all worth it in the end.
