What is energy?
Energy is the ability to do work. An object that has energy can perform work.
Energy can interact with tangible objects and cause them to move or change.
Energy can also be used to maintain a process or carry out an action. Examples of energy are rolling a ball across a table or picking up something.
What is work?
Work is applying a force to move or change something. Examples or work is pushing a button or typing on a keyboard.
What is Energy Transfer?
Energy can transfer from one object to another. Energy can also transfer from one location to another. This movement of energy is called energy transfer.
Energy transfer involves the movement of the same form or energy. Examples of energy transfer are plugging you computer in or plugging in a microwave.
What is Energy Transformation?
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can change from one form to another. Energy transformation is the conversion of energy from one form to another. An Example of energy transformation is when you plug in a microwave the energy goes from Electrical to Mechanical and Radiant or Light energy. Another example of energy transformation is when you eat food. The energy goes from Chemical to Mechanical.
What is the Law of Conservation of Energy
The Law of Conservation of Energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed. This means that energy cannot just disappear and reappear. An example of the law of conservation of energy is if you have 5 water molecules and they go through a chemical reaction, there is going to be 5 water molecules that come out. Another example is if you have 10 carbon dioxide molecules and they go through a chemical reaction, there is going to be 10 carbon dioxide molecules that come out.
