What questions does this book raise for you? What issues are addressed or ignored in the text?

The questions that the book raises for me is why can't the main characters little sister go to Canada with him. In the book it says she is to young but that doesn't have a real explanations. The issue that the Nazis's are coming to the England territory. Why does his stepmom hate him. Who did his real mom die, why is his dad not sticking up for him. If the main character is going to Canada wouldn't he have to go through a port of enteritis. What religion are these people. If he gets sent away where will he go, like a foster home or a real home. I wonder if the goes to Canada the people there would abuse him or hurt him. The main character is going to have to learn a new language... a new living area.... and how to live a new life

This story helps me understand the problem of the citizens better because the citizens are not talked about in the text books and if the citizens had to go through the worst of the war because the military would never know who die in that event or when it is about to happen. So many people died in the times of WWII, the time frame of Hitler was a horrible time with the religious part and the areas he attacked. The people in Great Britain experienced the worst and first attack of WWII. The citizens had bunkers and had to hidden to try not to die. The citizens had to do a lot things in WWII. The war consisted of many people dying because of the rubble falling and hitting many people. If the city of London were in war why didn't they try to get the civilians to a safe place? Why did they not try to go to the area when the bombs hit. Why is the citizens not talked more in the times of WWII. In the book is states that they lived in London. Why did the military not respond in time?

Quote/page # | Analysis

| "But John, we're on an adventure! Just think. We'll be real sailors on a ship with the Royal Navy!" Page forty. This proves that the people on the train where worry some and that people were scared. Another example “I pat his arm, try to tell him a bedtime story, but John only weeps louder.” People that were being transferred were scared and homesick.

| A quote from the text “I look back to see dozens of boys, tiny and tall, yawning, scowling, weeping.” This proves that the people on the train are crying and trying to stay awake just in case the Germans attack people in the train. If the Germans wanted to follow the people on the trains, I wonder if the Germans followed them what would they do.

| A quote of LIFEBOAT 12 “I walk over to the mats and squat down to stuff one. “We’re like seeds in a pod,” the boy next to me mutters.” This proves that the kids in the area are all probably thinking the same thing, “where are we” or “how long are you going to be here for”.

Ken changes in the book because of all the things he has gone through. From losing his parents to geting chased by Nazis soldiers. When he lost his parents because he was being sent of it was the worst feeling he had ever had because his father and his little sister cared about him, his step mum hated him because he was being sent off and the adults were not. When he was on the train many people in the train were sad and they were scared because of the parents and what was going to happen. When he was on the train and he had Nazis soldiers attack his train. The Nazis made the train stop everytime and took them hours to do that. They finally got to the orphanage and many people there got very sad that their parents are not with them. The kids had to go through all of this deserve to change like from childish to brave. Kids are now starting to work really hard and deserve to leave.

Ken changes over time because of the things he has seen and been through. Ken has left his family because of the Nazis power going over to take Great Britian. If he stayed then the Nazis would had killed him and then maybe took him to a consintration camp. When the bombs were falling the people of the area of London were all sleeping and maybe died, if the military didn’t respond in time i wonder if the people of London would have been killed? When Ken was on the train, a Nazis plane tracked it to a stop, the train had short stops in between the time from the plane finding them to the place the were going which was a orphange. In the orphange the people had sorro the childern were scared and homesick. The child there that was crying was probably, one of hundreds that was scared. When they were back on the train going to the boarder nothing big in events really happened. When hitting the boarder they had to get checked for disesase and Ken didn’t want to be a failure to his family. He got through and went straight to work and waited for the next train to go.

Write about something that intrigues, impresses, amuses, shocks, puzzles, disturbs, repulses or aggravates you. In the book “Lifeboat 12” in the book there was a chapter so stupid because of the “Bad Luck” stuff on Friday the 13th for a sailor but I guess it came really. I was shocked when they had to leave because on Friday the 13th was around and they said it was bad luck. I was puzzled when the captain was in the area and the captain was really scared of what was going to happen. When Ken finally got out of bed the captain was scared why? If Ken never had left what might be happening right now. What is happening to his parents? Where are they are they at a containment center or at really bad area. What is the religion of Ken and is family? If Jewish what will happen to his parents. I hope all these questions will soon be answered in the nest couple chapters.

Give 3 reasons why this book should be taught to a whole class. Support each reason with ample evidence from the book.

Give 3 reasons why this book should be taught to a whole class. Support each reason with ample evidence from the book. One reason why this book should be taught in class is because it teaches you what was happening to the children and citizens in WW2. Ken in this story has been in the worst of the London area. He was in the area of London where a bomb struck areas of the streets. Ken also was in the place where they sent children to Canada and some kids couldn’t make it between the rides and the stop to have an inspection of their health. The second reason is what the children had to go through from the Nazis trying to stop them. The Nazis chased them until they arrived at the orphanage. They also watched them at work when they were do yard work. In the book it also gives information about the sailors theories, but Nazis also launched torpedo in the boat. The third reason is that in different grades they talk about WW2, one event is the difference of the citizens and the soldiers and what is happening that is another reason. Other reason is that no body knows what happened to the citizens. Why are people not teaching this now? We need to know why this is happening to these citizens.
