         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Germany Rebuilds Its Army and Italy Invades Ethiopia<br></strong>Hitler disobeyed the Versailles Treaty and decided to rearm his army and move them towards the Rhineland, the buffer between Germany and France. At the same time, Mussolini attempted to avenge his prior defeat in Ethiopia and ordered an invasion. Italy utilized airplanes, tanks, guns, and poison gas in their victory. </div>]]></description>

Britain urged France to give in to avoid conflict. This reoccupation symbolized Hitler's gain of influence and tipped the balance of power into Germany's favor, encouraging him to quicken his country's expansion among Europe. </div>]]></description>
