David Smith is a 10-year-old boy in 5th grade. He is on the spectrum for autism. For the most part, he succeeds in school and can keep up with his peers. The only time he struggles is with math. Outside of school he is a very intelligent kid and likes to spend his free time learning about cars. He states that he has kits that he can build miniature car engines and put them into a model car. With David's autism, he struggles with social communication and interaction, he only opens up to specific adults are rarely students in his class. He also struggles with staying still for long periods of time.

Math: David struggles a lot with math and he is a hands-on or visual learner. So using car parts or car vocabulary as visuals will help him understand. For example, in 5th grade one of the requirements is to learn fractions so I will have centers and each one will have different scenarios so all the students can be involved.

Language Arts: The kids will be required to read for an hour a week and with this, they can pick whatever book they want that is accustomed to their reading level, which can be with their interests.

Social Studies: at the beginning of the year I will ask what different topics students want to learn and then I will try my best to accumulate that into a lesson.

Science: I will do labs often since a lot of the kids in my class are hands on learners so it will help them understand what we will be going over in each lesson
