         <description><![CDATA[<div>We took the tubes out of the incubator.  We wiped the condensation off 4 plates and then set them aside.  We turned the flame on and sterilized the spreader.  We micropipetted 200 microliters of liquid culture from the green-capped tube onto each of the four plates, leaving the lids open on the plates around the flame so that the liquid could evaporate and for sterile purposes.  We placed the disks on one plate and micropipetted 10 microliters of sodium benzoate on 4 discs, 10 microliters of low concentration tea tree oil on one disc, 10 microliters of high concentration tea tree oil on one disc, 10 microliters of low concentration garlic extract on one disc, and 10 microliters of high concentration garlic extract on another disc.  Then we used a micropipette to transfer these discs to their respective plates</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>We returned to lab the next day and checked plates for fungal growth. We were going to measure and record zones of inhibition around each disk, but none of the disks had a clear zone of inhibition and the fungi grew unevenly (some parts of the plate had no fungi and some did.) This may have been from our sources of error.<br>Possible Sources of Error: we may have not allowed the inoculating loop and spreader to cool for long enough, so it was too hot when we were spreading the fungal loop, and it may have killed the fungi. Also, we may not have spread the fungal solution evenly across plate.   </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There was no growth of Rhizopus stolonifer.  There were a few contaminants on the plates.  A possible source of error is that we used a different tube than the first trial.  The tube that we used might have not had enough R. stolonifer cells in the liquid. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>We stored the plates in an 30 degree Celsius incubator instead of the box, and even though Rhizopus stolonifer can grow at 30 degrees Celsius, it may not have been ideal for growth. Also, maybe our concentrations of preservatives were too high, and it killed all the fungi, so there was no growth to measure.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Since the fungi did not grow at all on any of the plates during our second trial, we thought the concentration of the fungi we put on the plates were weak. As a result, we combined the original 8 culture tubes into 3 tubes so our cultures could be more concentrated. We then incubated the 3 culture tubes at 30C.</div>]]></description>
