Sparta's economy was a Oligarchy, ruled by a group called"The Council of Elders" made by 2 kings and 28 other men. They had to be 60 years or older to be elected. Spartans were based on farming and conquering their neighbors. They had slaves called Helots which they conquered from their neighbors. Helots farmed and did all the spartan's chores so they can concentrate on other pursuits. Women and slaves weren't allowed to own property. They both taught the athenian children. Women couldn't chose their own husbands. Women and slaves did all the housework.  Slaves had a few jobs like working in the farms, others worked at the city clerks, others in silver mines, they worked up to ten hours.
Spartan women had a simple life as men. Didn't wear anything fancy. Expected to be strong and healthy. Had many rights. Spartan slaves were called helots. Could marry whomever or whoever they wanted to. Pass their names onto their children. Could sell any leftover crops.
