It is a hyperbole because It (her relationship) will not really go down in flames, so therfore she is exaggerating how bad it will really be. It means that her relationship will be long and happy or it will end disastrously.

It’s a comparison between 2 unlike things using the word "like". She can't actually read him like a magazine, she is comparing his personality to a magazine. The point is that his character/personality can be easily interpreted or how he acts can be easily predicted.
