I am Greek and have two children who are also my research guinea pigs! 

I teach Child and Health Psychology in MED and I look forward to sharing with you a few of the many fascinating facts about children's minds in one of our lectures this year. My research explores how children's ideas about the biological word develop and how they come to understand the workings of the human body, the meaning of illness and health, and the concepts of life and death. 

I am also the wellbeing lead and one of MED's senior advisers. I work closely with students and colleagues to increase awareness around mental health and embed wellbeing and psychology workshops in the curriculum.

My name is Susanne and I have been at UEA for a very long time, since 1995 to be precise.  I arrived from Sweden to the UEA Village with two bags, joining the 3rd year biology students and stayed in 'BIO' for seven years.  Never left UEA, but did jump School in 2002 and has been here ever since.  It is a great School :) because of the lovely people in it and all the great things we do together!  

I am currently the MED Teaching Director, which means I overlook quality of Teaching and Learning across the School.  I am also involved with the healthcare assistant (HCA) project, which you will hear more about soon and interprofessional learning (IPL), which is all about learning with/from/about some of the different professionals who will also care for your future patients.  We have a great UEA interprofessional education (IPE) society that I recommend you look into, as they seem to have a lot of fun!

I'm an Associate Professor in Anatomy and am in charge of the licensed anatomy facility where we undertake cadaveric dissection. I am Mark Curtis, and I am the lecturer in ethics and ethics theme lead for Norwich Medical School. What I do is to examine the kinds of dilemma that face doctors on a daily basis - Indeed, maybe I am biased, but I think it is difficult to imagine any medical decision that does not have a moral dimension. I don't set out to tell you what to think but I do try to equip you with some tools to enable you to tackle those sorts of problems that can seem almost intractable at times. Inevitably, biomedical ethics deals with some of the most difficult topics around so whatever your preconceptions, expect to have them challenged. I am a philosopher by training and inclination, especially the philosophy of science, psychology/psychiatry and medicine as well as applied ethics. As I like to say, philosophy may not have all of the answers but we do have some really good questions (without which good answers are all but impossible) and some very good thinking tools. I look forward to working with you on some taxing issues in contemporary medical ethics.

Hello, welcome to the Gateway Year - the very best year at Norwich medical School!! 😊 ... OK, I'm biased, but it is FAB.

I can’t wait to start my 3rd year as a A104 PBL tutor (and lecturer)! The last two years have been such a rewarding experience – working with some fantastic YR0 colleagues and meeting some amazing students 😊 I love the student interaction in PBL, especially seeing learner development as the course progresses. My oldest starts at University this Autumn too… so I’ll be even more in tune with how you are all settling in.

I’m an active nutritional researcher who fell in love with Norwich in 1997 and came back ‘home’ in 2006. I’m a Yorkshire man by wallet, have two teenage children (nearly 19y & 15y) and am obsessed with football and fishing. I play golf badly and cycle to work, to balance out my love of craft ale. I have two cats, Thomas (Tabby) and Indi (Ginger) and up until this year, coached a junior football team.

Welcome to UEA!  UEA is a fabulous place and I hope you will be very happy studying here.  My name is Elizabeth and I have worked at UEA for 18 years.  My previous ‘life’ was in local radio, so the world of academia was very different for me initially!  However, I was soon ‘hooked’ and went on to study for several years whilst working.  My student years were a wonderful experience.  
 
I work as a Research Associate within the Centre for Interprofessional Practice and together with my colleagues Professor Susanne Lindqvist and Dr Bethan Gulliver deliver the Healthcare Assistant (HCA) Project which you will all take part in.  Here you will discover the importance of learning about HCAs and their key role in delivering compassionate, person-centred patient care.  
 
Outside of UEA I run with a local club, and we also have three feral cats who rule the house – Stan, Chip and Benny!  They all like their meals on time!

I’m from a small village mot far from UEA, so I will be communing in everyday.

The past 2 years for me have probably been quite different to most of you. I did (ish) my Alevels in 2020 then decided to take a gap year .. or two. I worked for the majority of my time off but also got a little travelling in too. 

In my spare time you I enjoy  playing hockey, Paddle Boarding or hanging out with my doggies, but most of my time is spent with the horses. 

I have lived in Norfolk for a while so if anyone is looking for recommendations of how to spend their evenings or weekends let me know and I will do my best to suggest! 

I can't wait to meet everyone :) x

I came from Southam in Warwickshire, but have moved around my whole life. I have lived in different parts of Scotland, Wales, England and India my whole childhood. That's why my accent may sound like a bit of a mess at times, sorry about that.

I love music and play the flute and piano.
 I've played the flute in the Suffolk Youth Orchestra and it was great fun! Im from ……✨Norwich✨. It doesn’t really feel like a new place to me but so far I’m loving the university side of the city. I’m Looking forward to Gateway, but I’m also very nervous at the same time but based on how biology based a part of it is I’m excited.

I’m joining some sports teams ( basketball and Cheerleading) which will hopefully be my relaxer. If I’m not playing sports you’ll probably find me reading somewhere.

I currently live in south London but I’ve lived in three different countries. I was born and also lived in a village in near the mountains of Switzerland called Neuchâtel for nine years and then my family decided to move to Sri Lanka which is where I’m originally from for a year and then we moved to England and I’ve lived in south London ever since. I love doing charity work, I was a UNICEF ambassador for five years which taught me so many useful skills which would hopefully help me in the future. I love karate, I’ve been teaching it to younger children ever since I got my black belt in yr11.
