         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li><p>Orientation day for internship student.</p></li><li><p>overview of Marriott.</p></li><li><p>Know how many hotels in are involved in the Marriott Bonvoy in Malaysia.</p></li><li><p>Learn with core value in Marriott rules.</p></li><li><p>This orientation only used a hall and also the projector for presentation the slide by Westin Langkawi.</p></li><li><p>The orientation gave me a clear insight into the scale and values of Marriott as a global brand. I was able to relate many of the concepts discussed, such as customer service, hospitality management, and brand positioning, to the theories and modules I studied at UMK. It was interesting to see how classroom knowledge, especially in service management and business ethics, is directly applied in the real-world hospitality environment. This experience has made me even more eager to bridge academic learning with practical skills throughout this internship.</p></li></ol>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li><p>Today marked the second and final day of the orientation session. The day began with an overview of The Westin Langkawi Resort &amp; Spa, followed by departmental presentations where representatives from each department shared their roles and responsibilities. </p></li><li><p>We also had a tour around the resort to explore key facilities and service areas, giving us a real-world look at daily operations.</p></li><li><p>Gained a deeper understanding of The Westin Langkawi’s structure, services, and standards.</p></li><li><p>Learned about the function and workflow of each department within the hotel (e.g., Front Office, Housekeeping, F&amp;B, Sales &amp; Marketing, etc.).</p></li><li><p>Observed how departments coordinate to provide seamless guest experiences.</p></li><li><p>Improved communication and observation skills during the tour and presentations.</p></li><li><p>No major challenges were encountered, although there was a lot of information to absorb in one day. It required focus and active listening to follow each department’s presentation.</p></li><li><p>Today’s session helped me connect academic theories with practical hotel operations. </p></li><li><p>At UMK, I learned about the importance of interdepartmental collaboration and how every role contributes to service quality and customer satisfaction. </p></li><li><p>Seeing these concepts in action at Westin Langkawi gave me a clearer understanding of the operational flow in a real hospitality setting. </p></li><li><p>The resort tour was especially helpful in visualizing the customer journey, and it made me realize how crucial attention to detail and teamwork are in ensuring a premium guest experience.</p></li></ol>]]></description>

The day started with a briefing session with the sales team, where I learned about their daily tasks, strategies, and goals. I also studied the process of creating proposals and handling contracts within the sales department, including how to tailor offers to meet client needs.</p></li><li><p><strong>Skills Applied or that I learned:</strong></p><ul><li><p>Gained insight into the sales cycle and how to create a proposal that meets client requirements.</p></li><li><p>Learned the basics of contract management and key terms in sales agreements.</p></li><li><p>Developed a better understanding of the negotiation process and client relationship management.</p></li></ul></li><li><p><strong>Challenges Faced :</strong><br>The challenge today was grasping the technical aspects of proposal writing and contract terms, as it was a lot of information to process in a short amount of time. It will take some practice to fully understand how to craft proposals effectively.</p></li><li><p><strong>Reflection:</strong><br>The experience today was an excellent practical application of what I’ve studied at UMK, particularly in terms of business negotiations and customer relationship management. I was able to link my academic knowledge of sales strategies and marketing to real-world scenarios. Understanding the sales process in hospitality and tourism industry will help me in the future when I engage with clients or learn to craft tailored solutions for them. All the tasks—from proposal writing to answering client calls—allowed me to apply the knowledge I gained at UMK in a real hospitality setting. I’m leaving with new skills, industry experience, and meaningful memories that I’ll carry forward in my career journey.</p></li></ol>]]></description>

I officially completed all tasks and thanked the entire Sales and Events teams for their constant guidance, trust, and support throughout these past few months.</p><p>This internship has been more than just a training program—it was a place where I grew, learned, and found confidence in myself. From drafting proposals to handling real client inquiries, every task prepared me for the professional world. The knowledge and soft skills I developed, especially those I learned at UMK, were put to the test and truly strengthened here.</p><p>Ending with a beautiful farewell ceremony and warm wishes from both the Langkawi and KL teams made me feel proud of how far I’ve come. This experience will always be close to my heart and a strong foundation for the career I aim to build.</p></li></ol>]]></description>
