  • I also attended a Kyle Pace presentation titled "Leading Google Style." While many of his suggestions were practical, the one key takeaway was the slide for collaboration (specially using Google Classroom as a means of communicating not only with your students but with your faculty, staff and professional communities.) Kyle announced last week that Google Classroom was just updated to allow more users to connect using their personal accounts (Please see LINK.)
  • For our elementary schools, please consider Google Computer Science 1st.  The MACUL presentation is HERE.  This is a great way to get students involved in Computer Science as this can be tied in with high school students.  
  • Finally, I had the pleasure to meet Larry Baker who runs a very successfully "Student Help Desk" at Mercy High School (Farmington Hills).  The session was called Let’s Share Ideas and Strategies for CreatingDynamic Student Tech Teams.  An attendee at suggested for our help desk students to begin a program called CYBERPATRIOT.  At the center of CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. The competition puts teams of high school and middle school students in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company.

Free access to many Gale databases that have Google tie-ins so that students can highlight and annotate an article then download with citation to their Drive. Resources are curated by level and/or subject such as kids, teens, health. Also, free ebooks, including many PD resources. The session talked about using the design process for creating a Breakout EDU.  Also, the presenters talked about how they use sticky notes in the process and then later use the Post-it Plus app to scan them.  It turns the physical post-its into digital ones that can be saved and even manipulated digitally.  I have not tested it yet, but it sounded interesting.  ]]> 2017-03-26 21:39:32 UTC https://padlet.com/carolglanville/dogrcathedMACUL17/wish/162660261
