Running and endurance sports have always been a way for me to push past my inner critic. A way for me to trust myself, show up for myself, and prove my strength. I have currently run 6 marathons, 1 ultra marathon (over 26 miles), and 2 160 mile endurance events.

I love taking my scholars on adventures in which they 'think' they will fail. Seeing them realize they can do anything brings joy to my heart. I have seen too many of our kids spend so much time inside, instead of outside getting dirty and going on adventures.

My favorite thing I have ever been apart of was when we were building stamina in reading. I encouraged scholars to find a spot that was comfortable and allowed them time to get into their book. The silence and enjoyment they found with their books brought so much joy to my heart.

When we were engaged in this practice of reading, I realized we didn't have enough books that mirrored my scholars I was teaching. I knew then that I had to do something. I could not change the curriculum, but I could do an overhaul of my classroom library.

My boys have always kept me on my toes and looking for new adventures. They inspire me to push past my limits and try new things. They are also some of my biggest supporters in realizing I can do anything I put my mind to.

From every culture, race, and gender we all deserve to believe we can do anything. We all deserve to believe the sky is the limit. We all deserve to see ourself in the stories we read. From reading to adventure to the top, I plan to continue the path of leadership on a path less traveled.
