Due to colonisation english is the national language, and because of that typically parents and schools will ban the use of tribal language to enhance the student's learning of english. This is obviously contributing to the fact that most young people in my country can't speak their own language. i can but only enough for light conversatiuon which has till this day made me despise the schools i went to as a child because they practised this aswell. i'm still try to speak it on a daily basis. but now that i'm here in canada my parents are only starting to see the effects of what they encouraged and essentially funded. my english isn't still the best , but it's a bit easy for me to learn languages so it's not all a bad thing. I know how to imitate accents and that why.
