Wrote a big write-up, but unfortunately, this stupid site somehow ate my comment, so I'll just summarize and say, Lily James did a great job, I hated Ansel Elgort, I hated the writing, I hated most of the other performances, there were numerous plot holes and that Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx's roles got incredibly annoying and unbelievable as the film went on. This was also another film where you can tell the writer grew up rich and does not understand how working class people behave. One part in the movie, Baby works off his debt and just walks away to become a pizza delivery driver and Doc never says anything like, "You excited to make real money now?" There was just a lot about Baby that reminded me more of a trust fund kid than a real lower-class person struggling to make it.

I just can't recommend this movie until it comes out on DVD. You'll thank me around the last third of the movie.
I watched it at the cinema (premiere day) and couldn't wait for it to be over. It's less than 2 hours long (which is rare nowadays) but it felt like 3 hours.

Ridiculous dialog, boring plot. The "love story" is not just bad - it's pure offensive, I haven't seen such awful dialog since STAR WARS 2, this is something Tommy Wiseau could have written, it's like something made by an alien who doesn't know how human interaction works. And the clichés... oh god.

The action scenes were bad. Ultra-fast cuts and close-ups which don't let you see anything and make your eyes travel back and forth between cuts (sitting at the second row didn't help). This is Michael Bay style and I can't stand it. I blame the director and especially the editor - I can't blame Bill Pope since he's a wonderful DP. I can't believe people like this movie so much. Several reviews on IMDb praised it as one of the best action movies and this summer's best blockbuster. Did I see the same movie?

I've seen worse films in my life, but this one was just offensive for my IQ. Any person with half a brain cell and a minimum knowledge of film should be offended by this movie.
I left the movies feeling overall satisfied. Edgar Wright did an amazing job directing the film. The music, the flow, and the synchronization really makes this film stand out. This uniqueness definitely makes it worth a watch, even for people who typically wouldn't enjoy a film about cars, heists and police-chases.

The reason why this still isn't a 10 for me is that parts of the plot didn't feel even close to perfect.

The relationship between Baby and Debora is literally less than a week old. So why does she even consider running away with this boy she just met, leaving everything behind. They barely know each other...? Secondly, since the story gets unraveled she (Debora) even goes as far as wanting to drive straight into the police barricading the road, just for Baby to hopefully miss out on a few years in prison?

Matching such irrational behavior with the otherwise sweet and playful Debora doesn't feel realistic.

Baby gave out an obvious will to leave Doc and the life in crime, and yes, he had a good heart, but why doesn't he make the rational decisions either?! As an example, Baby was given the choice by Doc to cancel the last heist... Why did he think it was a better idea to say yes to the heist, and sneak out at night stealing one of the cars, while also choosing the place to sleep furthest from the exit, instead of just canceling it all together. The only real risk would be upsetting Bats, but with Doc on his side, this wouldn't be such a problem.

And his hobby of editing talking into mix-tapes just feels stupid. First of all, he really records criminals and murders, without them knowing, during important and secretive meetings, just for fun...? And secondly, the recording device ends up in the hands of his coldblooded-murder-companion Bats...? Baby is a smart kid, but he was also obviously shaken when the robbery against the CIT ended with one of his companions killing the guards. So why does Baby think it's a good idea recording these types of people? Especially when he sees and obviously is emotionally affected by their cold- blood.

For it to feel realistic Debora and Baby either has to be the cute young couple who just accidentally was mixed in to all sorts of trouble... Or they have to have a screw loose, actually being criminals with serious mental instability and a major lack or human morale (cause that's what their behavior says about them!). Debora being willing to risk everything for Baby after just a week long romance, is not normal nor realistic.

To be honest the whole love story between Debora and Baby just felt kind of dull and lame. I would have loved to have seen a wider expansion of Doc as a character, as well as some more twists, since the film generally went in fairly obvious directions.

These concerns is what mainly brought my grade down a bit. The plot wasn't at par with other aspects with this film. Nonetheless, still a pretty solid film!
