Google Search Game

Get better, and more precise results from a keyword search by using quotation marks, the minus sign (-), and the domain (.gov, .edu, .org)
Play the Google game:
Step 1: search the keyword honeybee and count the results
Step 2: search the keyword "honeybee" site:edu and count the results
Step 3: search the keyword "honeybeelifespan" site:edu and count the results.

What a difference! Use quotation marks and domains to get more precise results. Use your topic as your keywords.

What is authority?

Authority means the author is trustworthy!
Once you find a resource, investigate the author. Does this author have credibility? Verify the reputation of the author by doing a Google search with the author's name. If you can't find an author's name on a website or blog (look at the top or bottom of the article), it is likely a red flag!

Databases v. Internet

Databases contain information from published works such as scholarly articles, encyclopedias, reference books, magazines, and newspapers. Library databases provide citation information including author, the title of the work, publisher, and date of the publication. Lastly, databases are less work! The sources are vetted (credible) and save you time.
